Nice and helpful video. Could you share the details about the scholarship you used for housing support? Furthermore, is CAF possible for a single individual, as doctoral candidates receives minimum wage?

Shahmeer, could you answer to the question please?

It was helpful. But there were questions you didn't ask and PhD aspirants are usually looking for it. For instance, what time of the year they announce PhD admissions or positions, what kind of the nature of supervisors are in France is, and how to approach a prof and convince him/her. What are the things they can compromise on? Like most of the time proposed PhD positions require French language proficiency so would it be wise to apply for it?

@@hafeezkizubani Hi - thanks for inquiring about these things. PhD positions are announced throughout the year - but most announcements are around May to the best of my knowledge. For cold emails, use all times of the year including the 'calmer' parts of the year; competition is usually low in the non-summer vacation periods, so that helps! To convince a prof, do some homework on what they work on and in the email body, soft-pitch a research idea. Make the content of the email as relevant as possible without wandering around. Also, attach a relevant CV obviously. It's hard to say what they compromise on since this is individual-specific; but look up the profiles of the PhDs and Post-docs working under them (or those who've previously worked under them) to get an idea. For the language thing, ask them off the bat via email if English would work. English should work in most cases (this is a little discipline-dependent and also location-dependent). Cheers and good luck - hope this helps!
