If you're injecting subcutaneously I'm guessing you do not have to "pull back" on needle to make sure you aren't drawing blood, considering you should only be hitting fat with the smaller size needle.

My doctor prescribed me Testosterone Cypionate (200mg vial for a total volume of 1 ml). I inject 0.5 ml subcutaneously weekly and use a 25 gauge needle that is 1/2 inch in length. This seems to be the best and easiest way to draw the thick oil into the syringe and then inject into the fat on my abdomen. I inject at 90 degree since I have a decent level of fat. If you are lean, consider a 45 degree angle to prevent injecting muscle.

@@adam5075most doctors prescribe this, by injecting straight into the muscle, so it’s totally fine to do, it’s the common way of doing it, putting it in the fat seems to work better for others when it used to be thought it couldn’t be done. I usually use the muscle in my quad, but the butt muscle is common…: I’m watching this video just to reassure myself I did it right on my fat. :)

I was told you can only do the shots in the fat if you’re doing a low dose/injecting every day. Micro dosing. But I’m new to this. I prefer the fat over intramuscular

I was taught at Callen Lorde to inject at a 45 degree angle. It looks like you're instructing folks to not angle. Does it really make a difference?

from what I've read online the 45 degree angle is in case someone doesn't have enough fat reserves to pull enough & insert the needle but I'm not a doc & haven't asked mine about it everywhere else online I've researched has said 45 degree angle is a valid option so long as it goes into the fat

My urologist switched me from IM which my endo started me with when I first went on T to subq . Honestly, I think I prefer IM. It’s a bit more uncomfortable during the injection, but I find that any residual discomfort is gone in a day. With subq, the injection site either is uncomfortable for a whole week and/or itches the whole week.

The injection was testosterone cypionate, but you can inject testosterone enanthate the same exact way.

I just started my injections and the Pharmacist advised me to inject as per your video. I got worried that all the information online from manufacturer said to do inter-muscular (glute area or shoulder)The pharmacist told me that information now is stomach is just as good a place as muscle. Is this true despite what the manufacture indicates?

Anyone know if it's recommended to inject in your oblique? You have an easy path to a muscle right there (if you are lean enough) but why does no one inject there?

If something goes wrong and it gets inflamed or worse, it's a very hard area to manage to do your daily activities. Glute or abdomen seems to be a much safer alternative in this regard.

Is 0.6ml too much for a single weekly SQ injection? I’ve been having issues with scar tissue buildup doing IM injections, so this sounds like a great alternative for me.

You can use whatever gauge you are comfortable with, 25,26,27 are typically the ones we use. The length of the needle should ½” or 5/8”.

Been doing subq belly shots for a while now.. I done one as normal on Tuesday (2 days ago) and today there's a painful swollen area of injection site. There's no redness or warmth tho, but very painful. Do you recommend doing my next shot on the other side and see if the same thing happens? If so, what would be your recommendation? Thanks

You should always rotate the injection sites. It appears you had some local inflammation at the site which can be uncomfortable. Rotate the injections, if you continue to experience the discomfort, we would recommend reviewing technique or switching to IM injections.

Does daily or every other day low dose subcutaneous injections lower the chance of erythrocytosis?

Anecdotally we find that lower doses done more frequently help control peak testosterone levels and thus reduce risk for erythrocytosis. You should be having your CBC monitored closely when on treatment.

1ml is a lot of volume for SQ dosing, I would consider splitting into a twice weekly dose.

I just did my first SubQ injection. I have a knot there now that has been there for several days. It is a little sore when I touch it. Is this ok?

The testosterone injection in some irritates the tissue in which it was injected. This is an inflammatory response by your body. The medication was absorbed. The inflammation will go away. It you consistently get a nodule, you should consider a different form of injection. If the site gets bigger or has an area of redness that is spreading, you must call your provider.

No, you can use an insulin needle but it is very difficult to draw up the testosterone into the insulin syringe. You will also feel more resistance when pushing in the medication.

IM injections have been the traditional and recommended way to give testosterone since its approval. We have only started to use SQ injections for the past few years. We find testosterone levels to be just as good with the SQ injection. IM injections need to be done with longer needles in order to get through the dermal and subcutaneous levels. Thus, some patients find the injection to be more intimidating. You also should do IM injections into the gluteal area or vastus lateralis of the thigh so you have less options for injection sites. Some patients will get soreness to the muscle for 24-48 hours after an IM injection. If you are injecting larger volumes of testosterone, an IM injection will be better as the muscle will be able to absorb the volume better than a SQ injection. Most men who are using testosterone for replacement therapy will not be using those levels of testosterone.

@@dlindo8892 Doses are dependent on many different factors. We usually dose between 100-200mg/week. Most patients will inject weekly, although we sometimes will recommend more frequent injections. Injections can be done IM or SQ.

If you’re growing muscular…. Inject it into the muscle… plain and simple I don’t see why it’s a problem for people and why you would belly shot it. Shoulder, leg, Lat, - tons of front spots if you’re not flexible for the a$$ shot
