I know this is a very old video, but thank you for posting this. We have been struggling for days with this clutch on a Isuzu, and finally decided to Google to see if we can find anything that could help, and found your video. Did what you did, and finally, we got the damn thing to work properly. Thanks, dude! This really helped a lot.

I can not understand how they thought this set up would work from the start. I was so overwhelmed by the design I decided that I would research it and ran across this video. All I can say is thank you for taking the time to do this you've saved me a whole days worth work.This could be the most valuable info I have found to date. Thanks again

Where were you and your genius two years ago when this happened the first time?! It happened again and this time the timing gods were watching over me. I saw you video, understood it perfectly and did it to my 2000 Trooper and so far, it's working out WAAAAAY better than I had hoped. Thanks for thinking the way the engineers should have been! You covered what I was needing, outstanding job, Thanks. Nice skis, used to ski the backside of Mammoth Mountain, way back in the 80's. Wished I still had the knees needed to go skiing. Sounds like fun.

I welded a Honda Passport like you suggested this evening. It was pleasantly surprised how easy it was to connect the clutch fork. Hope to get it all together tomorrow evening and see how it works.

@Vacmasterthegreat The Nissans are very similar, but the engines are WAY easier to service. The Isuzu Rodeo like this one has long labor times because it's designed play doh style in layers so you have to dismantle many unrelated components to perform services. The Duramax is the same way for the same reason.

I found your channel by accident and watched your holding the glock slide video.... Decided to check out your other vids and found most of them to be DIY mechanic info.... as a fellow mechanic i just want to say i sub'ed your channel after watching two videos.... Just excellent Info with an awesome presentation..... Moved from NY to Savannah GA and i absolutely HATE IT... I hope i can make it out to UTAH's Wasatch valley as a permanent resident within the next year and a half...

Yet another case of brilliant engineering! They charge more because its an Isuzu which you really don't see much anymore because people get tired of fixing things like this! Glad u were able to figure out a solution though! :)

"parasitical drains" I think are what I call "draws" or draws of current from the battery while it's not running. If the battery is disconnected you won't get anything from probing the fuse block. What you can do is pull a fuse of a suspected drawing circuit one at a time to narrow it down. For example pull the radio fuse for three days- see if it's rectified etc. that would isolate a radio draw (common) Another common one is a trunk light, glovebox light etc. or ig. switch.

Hey Brian, when everything is together, does the throwout bearing come out of the wedge collar? or clip ing ? or does it stay in it while the clutch works?
@briansmobile114 жыл бұрын
Thanks- glad you liked it. Wish I had seen something like this before I did it the 1st time!
@dannytreadway456111 жыл бұрын
After Much study and a couple other forum it was determined that the duralast and napa wedge clip that hold the throwout bear in place were both defective machinig and there was too much slop in the measurements. Exedy kit number KIS06 is the exact OEM replacement for the trooper and the rodeo is the KIS01. The are the exact oem clutch sold to isuzu corporate. Another thing that it is imperative that the throw out bearing is only put on the fork on the shaft of the drive gear loose and after the bell housing and pins are pulled up. you then snap the throw out beaging into place, There are other videos on youtube that explain the exact thing. This was covered in several isuzu forums after people having failure after failure and some as many as 8 to 9 time before they solved the problem, Some guys were wanted to sue duralast and napa because of missized fitment. Hope you guys catch this before resorting to gring and welding,

I hope someone sees this. I welded the circlip to the throw out bearing as demonstrated in this video, but I'm having a horrible time trying to guide the clutch fork onto the TOB while pushing the transmission onto the truck. Is there any trick to this?
@S15collector13 жыл бұрын
overall, how do you like the Rodeo? I'm looking at a 94 b/c I'm getting tired of the sluggishness of my pathfinder and the brokendown-ness of my sonoma. but the seller thinks it needs a water pump. Also do I necessarily have to pull the trans to change the clutch, because as with all the other issues with my truck(s10), the clutch is on the way out.

Great fix, did you weld it with a TIG? I have been looking at some low mile mid/late 9S0s Rodeos what is your opinion overall on these. Thanks

Do I have to open and remove the transmission system to reach the clutch assembly in a Isusu Trooper? Clutch is kind of very hard and may need clutch kit replacement I guess...Bleeding may not solve the issue ( know unless one sees the subsystem its tough to decide

@briansmobile1 98 Jetta GLS (2.0) , 90 chev silverado ext. cab 2500 (350) and an 86 Olds. Toronado (3.8) with electrical issues. I HATE ELECTRICAL ISSUES! Hey, do you know of an easy way to track down parasitical drains on the battery? I heard you disconnect the negative, then hit the fuse box with a tester. If you get power then that is the circuit effected. Does this jive? Seems to easy to be true.

How much fun did you have trying to get the throw-out bearing onto the clutch fork as you were putting the transmission in? It is nearly impossible to put the throw-out bearing onto the fork as you are putting the transmission in like that. About the only way to do it like that is to cut a hole in the bellhousing and unbolt the the clutch fork from the transmission and slide the fork into the throw-out bearing and then bolt the fork back onto the transmission, which isn't easy.

I have an Isuzu Amigo and just changed the Master/Slave cylinders and the clutch pedal won't return in the up position... the line has been bled but I still can't get the pedal to go back up... What should I do???

@briansmobile1 Ya, that's what I thought too about the pulling neg and probe approach. It didn't make much sense to me when I was told it. Pulling the fuses to isolate was what I was thinking too. I just popped the neg off if I knew it was going to sit for 2 days or more. It's not on the road now though, can't afford to insure all 3 so the toy has to be parked. Gonna start isolating some of it's electrical nightmares. LoL 86 was a very buggy 1st year changeover, but a classic beauty!!

Dot fluid is hygroscopic, it pulls water from the air if exposed. It sounds like you guys have contaminated fluid leaving it to expand when hot. If so you will need to drop and flush it all, find the leak (probably res lid seal) remedy then replaced with new fluid. Good luck if not too late, I never did look at the time stamp.
