One more suggestion, look at your target. And after kick return to the starting spot as soon as you can. Because your opponent will attack you right after your back kick. Please remember that Back kick is most powerful kick in taekwondo but high risk to use, because of spinning. Have fun practicing :)

Good, but like my instructors told me, "Look where you are kicking, just like you look where your are punching.
@zerdyx9597

point is that if you do proper back kick, you wouldn't be able to see where you're kicking. And if you did see where you're kicking, you're doing a side kick with a spin.

Zerdy X My 9th Dan Master Instructor (World TKD Federation) disagrees with you. He has always taught to look where you're kicking. After 1st Dan, when I was training more consistently, classmates had to hold two shields together or I'd knock them over or hurt their stomach from my jump back kick.

M MJ Still, the instructor in this video has solid technique; It's clear that he's a sincere martial artist, and I really respect his contribution to the art.

Don't forget to turn your head please. Don't kick blindly like the video makes it look. If you look closely even the demonstrator in this video is looking with his eyes.

It’s a basic how -to video, there are other intangibles to be discussed in a class setting, but for all you critics out there; Master Jason Ok the is just giving the basic movements so the viewers-beginners-get the feel of the kicking action. It’s to complex of a technique to attempt complete instruction in a few seconds. Thank you for sharing.

+Left Lyric Again, there's different was and styles of even TKD or Karate kicks. I'm just saying, at the very least, every style should tell you to look where you're kicking. Like no, nothing to do with your heel, just turn your damn head at what you're trying to hit.

Well the 1st thing u should do after ur step to rotate...is rotate ur hips n look at ur opponent... Then throw the kick...but most back kick k.o's u c the person throwin it isn't lookin at their opponent

@jackg45
@jackg45 6 жыл бұрын
Yes and no. The no look back kick is for point fighting and you are correct the toes should point down. It is a quick, hidden kick for when someone is coming in at you. If you look, you will over rotate your shoulders, exposing your kick. The looking back kick is for self defense, where you should look at your target. Looking at the target will rotate your body and cause your hip and foot to rotate out. Now if you are quick enough and know where your kick will land, you can pull off the no-look back kick in a self defense, but don't be surprise if your opponent scoop kicks you in the nuts while your back is turned.

The Bahaaa (or the random shouting) is because to the refs it makes you look more dominant.. We do it all the time in sparring and our instructors recommend us do it more When the refs see you are more dominant they will give you more points Like if your doing a round house and it misses slightly They will give you the point

When you do a back kick/ back hooking or anything that is back-ing, you look at your target first, then when you kick, you dont have to look at your target.. Just let the kick hit your target. Dont have to look at your target the second time.

If you practice it enough times, you don't have to look, it becomes second nature for your kick to go down where it is supposed to go. If you look and follow your target your body will change and throw you off balance, the body goes with the head. If you are so focused on keeping an eye on your target instead of having the confidence then you shouldnt be doing this without practice. Looking where your target is, is something you tell someone that doesn't know how to do a back kick

I put two blackberry out of commission when I was a kid with that move in my neighbors basement. Did it because their mom came down and said they were blackbelts so I started laughing and challenged them to a sparring match. They both quickly declined so I sort of shrugged and turned and one was unable to breathe from the perfect back kick w little or no effect and then repeated it. I beat them both in 2 seconds in a real fight and wasn't even a bb yet. That kick is nasty and even a beginner or intermediate can use it in a real fight

As someone who practiced it for a few years, I can assure, you HAVE to. It has multiple purposes, such as: - The forced and trained rapid exhalation of breath. This can be used as both focus and as a method of rapidly exhaling carbon-dioxide from the body to increase oxygenated blood flow to the extremities. - The external armonizing of ki energy, as opposed to the internal harmonization of ki energy. (although you're free to believe in it or not, as long as the respect is kept) - The expulsion of intent. The shout acts as a declaration of your fighting spirit, your internal desire to prevail in those circumstances. This can be for intimidation, self-reassurance, rallying (the war cry was essentially a form of kiai), etc. please, learn before demanding.
