Yours are the only skate tutorials that talk about the importance of your hips (as opposed to shoulders, or general upper body) while rotating. That's invaluable. That said, I was never able to get my 180s really good, looking forward to trying this stuff out next time I go skate.
@SKATEiQ28 күн бұрын
Happy to help! Hopefully it takes you far
@JohnyDuc28 күн бұрын
Yeah that's true. This year I realized, probably thanks to Mitchies videos, that I can imagine hips also like a springload. It helped me so much with airs. I feel it's not that much about the shoulders but springing up hips really helped me realize that the hips are doing to rotation.
@kevskatesNM7329 күн бұрын
SkateIQ is so far the best skate science around. Even if you are pretty good and/or experienced at skating…the SUPER SIMPLE fundamentals come to mind in otherwise “go to” kind of (formerly) mindless tricks. This 180 one for example- bowl skating I do Backside ollies over hips that are NOT a full 180 rotation…or frontside ollies on a bank or pyramid corner (again not the full 180 rotation) but everything he is saying still is important to spotting landings, etc
@SKATEiQ28 күн бұрын
100%. A lot of the theories come from years of transition skating anyways

I'm a PT that just got into skating this year. Your channel has helped me progress so much. It's obvious you understand skating on such a deep level. You can explain things simply in ways I can comprehend, which is not easy to do. Virtually no less. I teach movement for a living and there are plenty of times I fall short of doing this with my patients IN PERSON. Thanks for helping me progress and proving I can still have fun learning to skate at 33.

Honestly a PT learning to skate through this channel will be super helpful in so many ways , that’s like the perfect situation 😂
@Bfann20628 күн бұрын
@@SKATEiQ yeah man the way you teach is definitely clicking. Explaining why a trick is able to be done before actually instructing the movement is so helpful. I spent so long over rotating my upper body before seeing your "1 inch punch" hip cue. I'm actually doing proper reverts after watching this vid. Thanks again

Ive been skating on and off for a few years been getting back into it recently. I’ve never had bs180s or anywhere close. Recently this past week or two I’ve started doing the revert drill where I’m heavy on the lead foot and it seems to help with getting the motion. Glad to see I had the right idea all on my own! @ it’s going pretty well I’m focusing on low pop bs180 the main issue I find is not being able to spread my weight where I want it. Instinctively my body lands either tail heavy or 50/50. Im trying to land nose heavy to get that revert action but my body doesn’t want to. I just have to keep working at it.
