My aunt taught me to cross-stitch when I was a child. Now, picking up the craft as an adult, I am learning so much from you. Thank you!

Once I learned how to do colonial knots, I have never done French knots again. Also when I do a colonial knot I wrap it on my needle in a figure 8 and they come out the same size as a French knot but lay flatter and to me looks nicer.

Kimberly, thanks for doing this beginning course on cross stitch. Even though I knew how to stich before watching the videos, I've practiced your techniques and seen improvement in my stitching. I hope you'll continue with the tutorials next year. Judy

Hmmm...my colonial knots seemed to disappear. I will have to practice more. I already knew how to do french knots but it was so helpful seeing your hand placement. Also, how you anchored the floss in the back was new to me. It's funny how you pick up little things here and there that are so helpful. Thank you for a great series!

My grandmother taught me how to cross stitch years ago and wouldn't call myself a beginner but watching this series has been very helpful! I realized that I've never actually done a French knot, it's been more like the colonial knot. I also had no idea about the loop method of starting a thread and I almost went and did it at that moment lol

Your instructions were so clear, but more importantly, you explained why. The close-ups were very helpful. In many of the earlier videos in the series, I wished I could see better watching full screen also helps.

I was already considering completely skipping the french knots in this design bc I absolutely suck at making them. Now I'm convinced I need to try!

Thanks I have enjoyed these weekly videos and found the instructions easy to follow. I have a question about the needle sizes. We used a 26 for this project. When do you use the 28 or the 24 sizes?
@FatQuarterShopFlossTube
@FatQuarterShopFlossTube 3 жыл бұрын
Hello Verna! Size 24 needles would be used for lower count fabrics like 10/11 count. Size 28 needles would be used for higher count fabrics like 18 count

Kimberly, can you post still shots - maybe on jabber - of both the full front and back of the piece? I caught a glimpse of the back and see I traveled more than you did. Also, I was unsure of how to stitch moving around the designs and seeing your back will help me see how you did.
