As a 17 year old I feel envious of these little children reciting the Quran so beautifully. I grew up raised in a Muslim household in the west and I didn’t truly comprehend the value of our religion nor did I understand the value of the Quran until recently. Starting from the age of 5 I began memorizing the Quran. This was only due to the fact that my mother wanted me to. Furthermore I began regularly praying 5 times a day by the age of 7 (I have never once in my life stopped praying and maintained regularity until now). When I was 7 I wore the hijab. However, I didn’t understand why we were obligated to do these actions and what the purpose was. I would think it was because Allah SWT ordered us to but it is far more than that. As I made mention of previously I only did these actions because my parents wanted me too. But, until very recently Allah opened my eyes and heart and allowed me to grasp the true meaning of Islam. I was allowed to grasp the true meaning of Salah. And lastly I was allowed to truly grasp the purpose of the Quran. Unfortunately I have only memorized 4 juz of Quran (from my prior years) and intend on continuing it until I completion. I always feel guilty that I have reached this age and have not accomplished anything in regards of deen. I feel like a joke of a Muslim. Every morning I wake up with regret that I’m not doing enough. I feel as if I have wasted my life and myself. I feel like a failure. However, I have already started memorizing Quran again and I am currently only on Surah Al-Jaathiya. Whenever I read or listen to the Quran I feel contentment like never before. Despite that fact, I am serious and I will memorize the whole Quran if Allah allows me too. My mother always wanted to see me as a good Muslim but I was never determined. If anyone may see this comment please make dua for me on this path. As I am alive and have not died perhaps there is a chance for me to turn around my life. The hadeeth says: “make the most of five things before five others: life before death, health before sickness, free time before busyness, youth before old age, and wealth before poverty.

May Allah Ta'aalaa bless you in all your endeavours, young sister. Your writing and thinking belies your age. You are 17. MaashaaAllah. You haven't wasted your life. Alhamdulillaah

@@GTSportChamp Yes I did waste my life. It is an undeniable fact. You don’t have to say that I didn’t. I will never regain those 17 years ever again. They are gone forever permanently. I could have benefited something in my life with that time. The guilt is catching up to me slowly but surely. Death isn’t just for old or sick people it is also for young healthy people. We do not know when we are going to die. Now that I’ve unfortunately awakened recently I am going to attempt to improve my relationship with Allah. For me, my relationship with Allah is directly through the Quran. It’s everything for me. It’s perfect. It’s absolutely divine. It extinguishes all your pain and replaces it with everlasting contentment. A believer should never feel good about their good deeds. We shouldn’t feel good about praying or fasting because we are obliged and we must do so. It is the bare minimum of what we should be doing. I’m just mad at myself because I was missing out on all of the ‘fun’; i.e. sweetness of Eman. We all need to wake up. We shouldn’t feel satisfied or get comfortable by doing minimum obligations. The moment you get comfortable the shaitan tempts you and trys to take you off the straight path. We all need to do much much more. This world is temporary once you realize that your life will change drastically. Please make dua for me on this path.

Children are born learners, the worst thing you do to a child is cause them to hate learning. May Allah reward this man for being clear and patient with them. And his recitation is very good.

@@acethegreat2946 You misunderstood his comment. He is asking: "How can children learn by you?" I.e. where are you based, so that children can come and learn by you i.e. under your tutelage Instead of "you", he used a more respectful term: "yourself"
