Good one ! Sure, applying squares again and again may not seem the fastest way to do this, yet it's something anyone can do. As for the detail using liner, I don't know if whether it's mandatory. One could just detail using fake dry blood. 'bout the pins/needles, alternatively, you could have done as much of them "ready to glue" with prosthetics glue (Spirit Gum) and then apply makeup :) That's just another way to do it...

best to do exactly what he did. I've been doing it for over 11yrs, and no matter how I try, still haven't found an easier way. some tips; -go to Walmart and get a womens leather/pleather belt that's pretty wide and has silver studs or embellishments. -still at Walmart grab a small section of a thin/ small silver chain from the household area. and a bottle of "Testors" model acrylic paint in blood red (be sure it resembles actual blood, between arterial and semi-fresh) -go to a dollar store or equivalent and get a cheap butcher knife, cheese knife, and try your local hardware store for a cheap "coping saw". you'll need those three to replicate his tool belt worn around his waist. if need be, paint any colored handles, etc -black. -for nails or pins, IT'S IMPERATIVE TO NOT USE OVERLY LARGE OR LONG PINS. if not you'll look goofy as fuck. stick to around 1.5" max. Remember it's pinhead not "roofing nail head" again, Walmart probably has craft pins or lowes should have "bright finish nails". -go to Michael's or AC Moore and get professional grade liquid latex. the best on the market right now is "Monster Makers RD-407" and that's only sold online. just never use the cheap thin, watery types like Spirit Halloween or the like. thicker is better! -next go to a thrift store and get an old leather jacket and try to find a solid black dress, preferably with a turtleneck. -try to find a cheap pair of womens black elbow length gloves and cut out the pointer finger, middle, and ring on each hand. those are everywhere during Halloween season. -lastly from Walmart again or target, etc get a couple packs of white cream makeup, and about 2 cans of the Halloween costume "hair color spray paint" you'll need that to touch up and place that didn't take the cream area. -lastly you will need pro grade embalmers wax, or putty for any part not clean shaven. if you don't want to shave your head, slap on Vaseline lightly in your hair, then cover with a single layer of clear saran wrap before applying the latex and squares. oh and around the eyes, VERY VERY LIGHTLY blend a little baby blue eyeshadow below your eyes to intensify the natural death look. and DO NOT USE ANY BLOOD OR COLOR ANYTHING RED OTHER THAN THE FEW CHEST PIECES WHERE YOU HOOK THE CHAINS. pinhead was a classic because he himself never was coated in blood. his allure was his bdsm/emo looking concept. trust me, people will notice immediately.... follow the video and practice his best lines, and use pictures of Doug Bradley in costume to fine tune your own costume. if there's no way you can do all of that, look for either "paper magic" or simply Google or search amazon for "adult DELUXE pinhead costume" and as long as it's not too close to Halloween, it runs around $100.00....and then all you'll need is the tool belt. if you go that route, throw away the shitty mask that comes with it. or give it to a child or something to use. it looks fake as hell. hope that helps, sorry for the novel, I just have about 25yrs experience with this character, and horror. if you need help along the way, email my account.... good luck, make the fans proud!!!

I'm not trying to offend you or anything, but the paper towel square step was absolutely unnecessary and I'm guessing also very time consuming. You could've just put about five layers of liquid latex on you head and face and then taken a sharp object(not a knife, don't be stupid)and carved the lines into the latex to give it some depth. And if they didn't look deep enough after that, then you could've outlined the outer walls of each square with black eye shadow to give it more depth.
