I know this KZbinr, who's friend had apparently exactly this situation. He was shooting a vlog and suddenly in his friends Soul Silver he starts to get lots of shinies and they are baffled how is that possible :D If you want to see it, I can try to search for that video.

it happened to my friend a few years ago. she was playing her heartgold with a clefairy and got 5 shinies, ran out of balls catching them all though. she had no clue what was going on but i told her about the glitch and asked if she could trade any dupes she got to me. turns out, her heartgold was a bootleg that couldnt trade. and she paid 80 bucks for it too (hgss wasnt 200+ bucks back then)

Tip for anyone wanting male shinnies - go for a shiny group "Female Lead (50% Male Target)". This will mean that Pokémon that have a 50/50 gender ratio will make the males have an increased shiny rate. As if you do a "Female Lead (87.5% Male Target)" the cute charm glitch will only work on Pokémon that have a 87.5% chance of being a male. The 87.5% group will not make all Pokémon have an increased shiny rate. So when picking a Female lead you are limited to the Pokémon's specific gender encounter rate. E.g if you wanted a shiny Abra in Gen 4, you would need to go for a group "Female Lead (75% Male Target) (as Abra in Gen 4 has a 75% chance of being male and a 25% chance of being a Female), however if you also wanted a shiny Zubat, you would not get the cute charm glitch as Zubat has a 50/50% ratio. I highly recommend if you are not bothered about gender just go for a shiny group with a male lead as that will mean all Pokémon will have an increased shiny rate except the ones stated.

If you see this, you’ll get more consistent results by going into the game and soft resetting on the 6th beep the first time instead of pressing A to enter the game. Hope this helps :)

so wait, if you soft reset on the 6th beep, the beeps that are supposed to tell you when to start the game so you can manipulate the trainer id, how would soft resetting on that first time make a difference in your results? now you have to do the whole restart from the menu, but you have no reference for how much delay you're working on, and you're just going to be checking your trainer card for the first time anyway. how would the soft reset change the outcome?

You only soft reset on the first time if you're playing on a 3ds or dsi, any ds lite or phat will be okay just opening the game on the first time

Helpful tips or anyone who'd like to know: 1) if you're playing Pokemon HGSS, you can catch a Jigglypuff at the safari zone! 2) if the glitch doesn't seem to be working for you, check your cute charm Pokemon is the opposite gender than what the shinies should be. I got stuck because my Jigglypuff was female and I needed a male - hope this helps! Buzzing here!! :D

Thanks so much, got it fourth try using the soft-reset method. For anyone like me who was confused on how to run EonTimer, it's the .bat file. UPDATE: So, I tried this on Diamond and Pearl too, resetting to 600 for each game. Diamond took like 10-15 attempts, while Pearl I did first try! Crazy, man.

What a great tutorial! This is my first time ever doing this and i managed to do it all in about 20 minutes. Unfortunately I forgot to delete the previous save so i had to redo it all and get back to Jubilife :( but I managed to get it back in about half the time (and got a Chimchar with a better nature in the process) so no harm done. Honestly, I didn't think I would actually get this to work as i've never messed around with external Pokemon programs, but your explanations were so concise and simple that just about anybody can do it! This is the best guide I've seen for this glitch and holy hell does it pay off. It took an hour or two to get the right seed but now I'm getting a shiny every few encounters. It's so weird and cool.

For you guys attempting this for the first time, there is a way for it to be done simply using an Eon timer (for D/P/Pt, although I'm sure once you have the information for a working TID/SID combo in HG/SS the same goal can be reached). Set your calibrated delay to 605, Calibrated seconds to 14, target delay to 6004 and target seconds to 23. Change the date to 5/30/2018 and start your runs on the timer at the time 10:55 on your DS. It may take a few tries, and you may have to adjust the delay by one or two every few tries to make up for any delay you may have, but I successfully obtained TID 02002 doing this and lost my shit when I found a shiny Shinx. Decent.

FYI I've just found out more about how the Female Leads work. You'll only get shinies when the target gender ratio is the percentage shown in the top of the Hex tables (87.5%, 75%, 50% or 25%). So for the best chance to get male shinies you'll want to go for a Hex from the '50% Male Target' table. Imo this makes it so much more worth just going for a male lead and getting female shinies like I said in the video, but it's up to you! Also it is possible to get either a Jigglypuff or Clefairy in HGSS in the Safari Zone 'Meadow zone' early instead of waiting until Kanto. Oops! But I have a question if it's okay, I don't know if you'll know but it's worth an ask: If I tried transferring these shiny Pokémon into later games, and then place them into a gst or wondertrade for others to enjoy - would they be considered illegal Pokémon and cause problems for other people? I ask this because when trying to obtain a unknowingly hacked pokemon in gst there's connection errors and soft bans, and I wouldn't want to be responsible for that but like I say i'd love to spread on the kindness.

if the male lead will attract higher odds shinies from pokemon of any gender ratio, but always results in female shinies, then I think that means that you can get nearly any shiny except genderless critters (a shame, staryu, magnemite and voltorb are among them) or male only pokemon, which in gen 4 means tauros, hitmons, nidoran m, volbeat, mothim and gallade. presumably you can't get the gift tyrogue as shiny in mt. mortar.

I have been trying for 9 hours and im pretty sure im doing something wrong but im not sure what ;~; my only thought of what it could be im doing wrong is the whole updating the calibration thing, i noticed if i do that multiple times it eventually ends up making the timer way too short to the point where it’s impossible to get into the game before it finishes so i tried only doing that calibration step once for like an hour then i tried doing it every time tor an hour then i tried not doing it at all for an hour and then i spent the next several hours going back and forth between all of those, none of them seemed to work for me

I got the Id after messing up and hitting the delay button twice I had to guess the calibrated delay. But once I did and went through three more times I seen 48625 knowing I hit the timer exactly at the right moment and not the “1” or “27” was the best! First shiny I got after I tried it out was a starly! Next I’ll have to try to get my own custom id. Any suggestions to keep the in game timer long? But for another id would help.

Congrats dude! Maybe start with the same delay in the eon you used when you hit the right ID? I usually just start from scratch as after 1 attempt it should be calibrated again and it only takes about 3 minutes

Yep that's right. Once you input the name, switch to Upper/Lowercase if the delay is the odd when you want even or vice versa.

Hi, sorry to bother, I was trying to do this trick and had a (I guess it might be a bit stupid) question. After some tries I got the target delay multiple times with the setup I had, however, the ID was not the same the tool gave me. I tried more times and still got the same target delay (with the 23 seconds and all) and all the times the same ID, still not the one the tool gave me. I should keep going and retry again and again?, keep the next one that hits the target delay?, Maybe I am missing something? Aside from that thanks for the video and the link to the different tool, very easy to understand and follow.

If you hit a 23 second ID you've very close, just milliseconds out. Just keep trying and you should get it eventually! If you still have not luck or something seems amiss, maybe restart the whole process and try again

Firstly just to clarify, if you hit something between 21-25 you should be fine! It's if it's lower than 21 or higher than 25 that's when I'd probably restart the process. So by 'restart the proceee' I meant go back to the info you started with in the Eon timer. So in the video it's 'Eon Info Input', go back to this step using your orignal data and start again. You don't have to do but it might be easier.

If you're talking about the calibrated delay, this can change drastically after the first attempt as the Eon timer is calibrating to your system and timings so that's fine. If it's not this could you elaborate and maybe send a screeshot of the issue in my discord? Cheers

Just a dumb question, is it possible to do this by using the ids you have and by using your info? I mean I can do it myself but I cant rn cuz I dont have access to a laptop till much later I only have access to the timer

Yeah you should be able to use the exact same info as me! You'll get the same group of natures that always shine though, so mine was from group 2 in the hex group so; Impish, Lax, Timid, Hasty, Serious, Jolly, Naive and Modest will the natures that shine (:
