You could certainly hang a pendant from this. You just need to use a large enough jump ring or bail to fit over the viking knit. This will also depend on the finished size of your viking knit. Just measure the diameter, and then use a pendant bail or jump ring large enough to fit when you hang the pendant.

I've found the Lazee Daizee to be the best way to learn how to do the weave. As for joining the two wires together. They have more than one way if you read the instructions.

nice. i've been using this since it was a prototype and now i also use the larger one, too. i know you say don't squeeze the knit too hard (and you shouldn't) but if you do, that's what the bottom of the tool is for...slide it into the weave and work it around...it will reround the weave. almost got nauseous from all the moving out of range and the blurriness!!! thank goodness i recovered! LOL!

Great demo. I've been thinking of getting a Lazy Daisy so now I see I really want one. Thanks for the demo

Reducing the number of holes that you use will make it narrower when you pull it through the draw plate. But I don't know exactly how much smaller it will make it. I would recommend just trying it out and seeing how it turns out.

Technically, I think you could use coated beading wire to do the base of the viking knit. But the problem is that the coated wire won't hold itself together at the beginning, ending, or joins like regular wire does. It would have to be fastened somehow. You also wouldn't be able to draw it through the draw plate.

Thanks for the tutorial. Found out that even if it's not straight (not sitting on the flat edge) when you roll it in the cloth and then pass it in the draw plate it straightens it out perfectly

Looks like something fun to do. Can you hang little charms or beads to it? Thank you for sharing this.

Absolutely, you can decorate these in a lot of ways, I think adding jump rings and charms would be lovely

Ya know I don't we've ever tried making it in bulk so to speak, but I think that sounds like a clever time saver, give it a shot!

Make sure you don't cut your daisy top off until you are ready to finish it. I did that and lost the daisy top and had to get a new one. Just a tip from the school of hard knocks :)

Ive made quite a few Viking knit bracelets lately and im loving it 100%! my question is can they be drawn down to 1/8" and if yes what gauge wire is best? ive used 26 but I have only drawn it to 5/32"

I was wondering if this would work with more fluid wire like the 19 stand stuff used to string beads?

When adding wire, is it necessary to pull the head up, away from the base? I don't feel comfortable doing that as a beginner.
@beadaholique
@beadaholique 7 жыл бұрын
We feel it is necessary as this will help with aligning loops to each side of the hexagon base. If you are a beginner, we recommend doing a few practice runs just in case. Thanks for watching!

Very informative video. However, it was very hard to watch because the camera kept moving and the person making the tutorial would move the tool out of the screen area. Remember that you are showing others with a limited view so the work needs to be done inside the screen area and as still as possible to be helpful.

You'd think Beadaholique would have come up with a better way than cutting off the lazee daisy.. I made my own, no cutting required..

You know you're right, it's been a long time since we've done any viking knit work, we should re-visit this and improve our technique. Thanks for the suggestion

@@beadaholique The one I made, has hooks instead of loops, all I have to do is twist the attachment and the loops are easy to remove.. :) Common sense really :) If you do upgrade to something like I made.. then, I'd consider buying one. :)

@@c.s7978 That sounds like a great mod. We're always checking the market to see what new tools are out there but I don't think we've seen any new tools for viking knit in awhile. Glad to hear you've got one that works so well for you tho!

 @Beadaholique I started a new design a few days ago, instead of a round viking, I made a flat attachment with loops to make a full cuff.. was hard to get the first couple of rows to play the game, but after that it's turning out good. I'll do some images over the next couple of weeks and figure how to add them to my channel :)
