John Sison, do you or anyone knows how to get live-view show on viewfinder instead on LCD (5:25)? We are talking about wireless to computer's live-view. Needs live-view on viewfinder. Find nowhere on forums or videos showing how to change to viewfinder.

A73 user. I’ve been using a generic 10ft USB-C cable for years. I save the RAW to the camera and Mac. Tether tools may have been necessary in the past, but now you’re just paying for the name. A cable cannot make the USB bus faster.

Does Sony have free photo/video editing software when you purchase a camera? I’m looking at possible getting my first camera (Sony A7c) for photos, vlogs, videos at my desk (youtube style); and using it with my MacBook Pro 2017 (ios10.13) as a webcam for zoom. So I just need an SD card. But can I record/take photo and then wirelessly send them to the computer? Not simultaneously, but like via the menu, can I send it to my laptop/phone? Is there a Sony app that it will show up in? Cheers. Apologise for any misunderstandings, I know nothing about cameras. The A7c seems like a good middle ground.

Hey John - thanks for the information. This is def interesting. Of course, would like Sony to offer in firmware upgrade to A7iii, but I don't think that'll happen. I have a few questions for you; 1) can you actually record your EVF (incl seeing what the camera sees as if having an Atomos connected), 2) If not, do you know of a solution that maybe able to record the EVF (for BTS) without having to connect the Atomos directly (i.e. wifi)? Would something like the Field Monitor app or Inkee Benbox work? I'm looking for a way to record my EVF live without having to connect a bulky Atomos.
@JohnSisonPhotography4 жыл бұрын
You are welcome! With the program you can't use it to record what the evf is seeing unfortunately. I'm curious to find a way as well. Let me get back to you on that one.

What a convoluted mess Sony has made with setting this up. Thanks to your video and some trial and error I did get connected. I will add that one extra convolution is that if you use a VPN, it might need to be turned off before the camera will connect -- mine did.

Yesterday I was experimenting for the first time with Tethering. I was trying to connect my Sony A7M2 tomy laptop by wifi. It didn't work and I started usin a USB cable. Thanks for this video as the link to supported devices was useful. I couldn't find this information when I asked Google. My mark 2 camera is not supported for Wifi tethering. I did manage with a cable but it had poor connection and I need to buy a better tethering cable.

Hi John, great video but can you please explain at 2.31 you say connect to wifi direct, no access point required. Does using WiFi direct create a type of hotspot that would allow me wirelessly tether my A9mk2 to a macbook pro or Ipad without having any external wifi or cellular signal available, ie in the middle of a forest? Sorry I don't understand

Great vid! I played around with the settings and it is confusing that in 'wifi-direct' mode the camera wants to be connected to the wifi network but then it creates its own wifi network that you have to connect to via the computer. This doesn't work if you are on a desktop computer without a wifi card and its inconvenient to have to disconnect from the internet to connect to your camera. In any case I then went to to 'Access Point' and was able to pair my desktop with my camera over the wifi/LAN. This worked great and my computer stayed connected to the internet. I guess the 'Wifi-Direct' method will also work in the field when you have only a laptop and the camera and no LAN, so perhaps that;s the advantage of it?

Everything about this process is slow and stupid. And there is no reason firmware updates can’t fix these problems in all Sony Cameras. Forget out how Sony flagship camera only have a decent, 5.0 GHZ radio. All the others are 2.4, interference nightmare. And Sony software is PAINFUL. Thanks for the tutorial… it shows me how Sony has light years to go to make a wireless workflow usable on-the-go.

Is it possible to use the Wi-Fi capabilities of the A7S III to transfer video files as a backup to either cloud storage or a laptop? Only issue is that because of the nature of the videos being capture, having a laptop connected to the camera while recording is not a possibility. Looking for a method to transfer a copy of video files from the memory card(s) to external storage, likely a laptop or the cloud, as soon as possible after the video recording is complete, and the file exists on the memory card.
@ThinkerOnTheBus3 жыл бұрын
Okay, I reached the part of the video where John states that video files will not transfer to the PC. However, once a video recording is complete, is there anyway to connect the camera to the cloud and copy the video file(s) to the cloud?
