Thank you for this. I was watching OSM and couldn't understand how he hit those dodges so consistently. Your tutorial was the only one talking about the flip cancel you do (which I didn't do this whole time). This has helped me immensely so thank you very much!

You're so underrated, and I appreciate you so much. I've been doing just single flip resets for ages, but after this video, I was able to start hitting doubles inconsistently after an hour. Back when I was learning to do perfect single resets for follow up tricks like musty double touches, I went through that same process of trying the technique, comparing to an example, learning, tweaking, and repeating. I understand how much work this takes, and I can't thank you enough for compiling all of your findings through grueling trial and error into this immensely helpful video.
@NightRyder4 жыл бұрын
That's so awesome, so happy it helped! And yh it really was a grind to learn this haha And haha yh I reckon most people won't understand how long it took, so it's nice to also have someone recognise and understand the grind :D
@acgrizzle75304 жыл бұрын
How long did it take you to learn single resets? I've been playing for over 1500 hours and these advanced mechanics still seem hopeless to me.
@air44254 жыл бұрын
@@acgrizzle7530 to do single flip resets consistently? Maybe half a week. The reason being is by the time I tried to flip reset at around 800 hours, I was able to do workshop maps flying backwards, sideways left, and sideways right the whole time. Grinding car control without using air roll is paramount to being able to actually air roll and tornado spin extremely efficiently, and then flip resets become fairly straightforward. Now on the other hand getting good enough flip resets to follow up with double resets or musty backboard double touches, that took another few hundred hours of freeplay, grinding even more workshop maps with and without air roll to get rid of blackout spots (when your car is angled in a way that you don't know instinctively how to recover), and actually taking a closer look at other people's clips and how they hit them
@acgrizzle75304 жыл бұрын
@@air4425 Thanks for the detailed reply. Sounds like Im lacking a number of fundamental mechanics to even think about flip resets. Where do you suggest I should focus my efforts to start improving my in air mechanics?
@air44254 жыл бұрын
@@acgrizzle7530 Backwards car control--if you can consistently make it to level 10 without dying in leth's giant rings map while flying backwards and at almost the same speed as doing it forwards, you'll probably able to flip reset inconsistently after watching maybe a video or two and half a day of practicing.

This tutorial really helped me. I think one thing you should probably go over is which air roll (You use left, I use right) and stick direction for wall take off. You also full boost over the ball then stick down to get that reset slap. I think the diagonal flip cancel section can be condensed into a modified speed flip with different stick cancel angles. Been doing air roll practice for the first time since August (?) of last year. Can do Leth's big rings level 5 all air roll. Tried so much to this shot from replays. Took me about an hour and half to get it down (not on goal) after watching your tuturial. Thanks!

@@NightRyder Also i have 2 suggestions for what i'd like to see you do. One mechanic wise and another as more like an experiment i think. For the "mechanic", i'd like to see you try your hand at Evample's insane dribbles. The Ball carry breezi fake catch 360/180 spin into a flick thing. ;o Been trying to learn that myself and it would be sick to see you do it. And the video idea is for you to try to climb as high as you can in rocket league 6 mans. And talk about what it's like communicating seriously since you normally solo queue, and how different it is from normal ranked. It would take a a long time for that kind of video but i'd certainly be interested in that.

@@jjswifthd oh wow that'll be so tough, those dribbles are insane, but it's actually something I want to get good at, so yh I'll try it! Yh I could do six man's like that, but I don't want to get flamed by my teammates XD I'll think about it, it is a very good idea.

My problem isn't getting the second reset, it's trying to follow it up with a hit.
@NightRyder4 жыл бұрын
Yh that is the tough part, so the way I got over that, is learning the cancels for where the ball is, because any diagonal dodge from that position will get you the reset. You need to do the correct one to get a good follow up. So if the ball is either behind you or very horizontal, you need to do a wide flip cancel, if it is more ahead of you then you need to make it more narrow. Hope that helps :)

So really its a feel thing, this may be a bad answer but honestly just practicing and you'll know when to use which one, which is really the best way. But if you ball is far over to the right you'll want to go wide and if its closer on the left side a narrower kne will do, hope that helps :)
