How to DOWNGRADE GTA San Andreas to v1.0 [Steam/Rockstar Launcher/Retail]

This video will show you how to downgrade EVERY version of GTA San Andreas to version 1.0. The original 1.0 version allows you to mod the game and also brings back the songs removed in the later versions.

Here's my 2 questions: Why do we have to open the game before downgrading and why do you have to remove the MTLX.dll file? What does it do?

The first game initialization needs to happen BEFORE you downgrade. If you downgrade first the launcher will erase some of the files from the downgrader. The MTLX file is extra DRM which was added after the game got released on the launcher.

01:27 You don't need a separate exe. You can easily make Steam launch the downgraded version. Here's the process broken down to as simple steps as possible. 1. In your San Andreas installation folder (SADIR), rename gta-sa.exe to anything you want. You can also delete it or move it to a subdirectory, it doesn't matter. 2. Copy SADIR's path from Windows File Manager's address bar (the one with the long line of text near the top) 3. Right click on the Start Menu and click on Terminal/Command Prompt/PowerShell (administrator), depending on which version of Windows you havey and click yes at the UAC prompt 4. In the command line window (Windows Terminal/Command Prompt/PowerShell), type in "cd " (the space and the quotes are important), then right-click to paste the address copied in step 2, and press return. 4b. If GTA San Andreas is installed on a drive other than drive 'C', e. g. drive 'D', you will also need to type in the drive letter followed by a colon character, e. g. "D:". If San Andreas is installed on drive 'C', you don't need to do this step. 5. Type in *mklink gta-sa.exe gta_sa.exe* and press return 6. Type in "exit" and press return. If you've done everything right, Steam will launch also launch v1.0. You can also just use the "official" SA Downgrader from GTAForums. gtaforums.com/topic/927016-san-andreas-downgrader/

With the method I described, you'll save about 14 MB of disk space, because gta-sa.exe is now going to be a link that points to gta_sa.exe, which takes almost no disk space.

Hey. I have a problem with my GTA 4. I purchased it from steam. I bought the complete edition. I played it for a few hours and when i tried to save it. An error popped up saying that "Save Failed. Please check your storage device and try again". I have around 300 gigs of storage left on my desktop. Please help me.

Your savegame folder might not have the necessary permissions in order to create and modify files. You need to sort out your permissions first. It's not an issue of free space.

Rockstar Launcher version is basically impossible for me. I did everything correctly but the game wouldn't open and only ran in background. Nothing I tried did anything to fix it.

Most of you know what copies of gta San Andreas are actually the day one release so there is no need to downgrade unless you have the steam version of the game. 😂
