Master contains system tables, which are required for the software to run properly. You need to create your own database first.

You try download lower version of SQL Server (SQL Server 2008 for example). Unfortunately you will have to Google the download link.

That's one option, and the easiest option actually, but you will lose all your saved settings. You probably will have to install earlier SQL Server and SSMS. I would recommend 2008 version.
