New EKOS/KSTARS November 2021 on Raspberry Pi Astroberry. When I start EKOS, Start my equipment profile, KSTARS Window disappears adding more steps to my procedure o select, align, capture one object then another. In Alignment Setup it is important to HighLight the FOLDER where the INDEX Files are stored. If the wrong folder or no folder is selected then it is impossible to down load the index files. Thanks for your videos, they have been very helpful ..

Thanks for the heads-up bbillp! I haven't imaged in quite a while. But I'm planning to upgrade my setup to the new version this week. Nothing else to do with the weather we have here ;-) Clear Skies!

As a user of Stellarmate for the last year, I want to thank you for your channel. You are helping me fill in many gaps in my knowledge of EKOS.

Thank you, Tomandjoan! I'm doing it because I'm still running into many gaps myself 😄. And your kind words help motivate me to do more. So thank you.

Thanks, Remco. I am making the transition from a Sharpcap/Windows platform to kstars/Linux, and frequently, it is not self-evident how to use this software. Your videos are extremely helpful. Please keep it up!

Hello Remco, i hope you'll be fine very soon, you're great at explaining! It would be a pity if you don't continue your site here and your hobby! Greetings, Andy

Really helpful. Thanks for all your work is simplifying the process. Recently moved from an alt az mount and have found the EQ mount to be challenging.

I've been wanting to use Astroberry and your tutorials are really helpful in getting started since I know nothing about INDI and KStars/Ekos. Thanks for these videos.

Hi Vrajesh, yes learning the INDI software stack can be overwhelming in the beginning. Let me know if you run into problems. Clear Skies!

Just got my EQ6R to direct connect via USB to my MacBook Pro thanks to Ekos. Looking forward to learning the ins and outs of Kstars/Ekos.

same here, I was using until now manual spotting and aiming (with much fails at finding small, dark objects haha), autoguiding only over the guiding port of the astro cam, so no GoTo or anything helpful yet. The good part of it: I learned astronomy and how to navigate "the hard way", much better than electronically supported basics of astronomy. But since I am bored and partially annoyed a bit by the fact that I always have to stay awake, do it all manually and so. Its already awesome to be able to plate solve and make a proper GoTo out of it, but the fact that I can easily plan now observations and let the gear do the work is so much more enjoyable (as soon I'm getting it working, all I'm waiting for is now only a USB hub so I can connect all the gear to one USB port instead of 3 (mono guiding cam, mount, DSLR) without goto and ST4 guiding only I needed 2 usb cables, that was just ok (but also a bad, cheap solution), now its time to go on to a proper cable management with the mount in PC direct mode. I hope some day I will upgrade my (bit hated...^^) EQ3-2 and 750mm F5 newton, it was a "cheap" entry in the hobby but I realized fast - there is no way around better gear in the future, also if I only stick to 600-800mm

Thank you for another great and usefull video. As you know i´m currently having some issues with the align module, so this will definitely be very usefull!! Keep them coming!
@52NightSky3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I've read your issues Valter. You'll figure them out with a little help from the group. I'm glad you like the videos. I'm currently doing the one on polar-alignment and goto plate-solving.. But as you know, a new version had just dropped. So I'm thinking of doing a 3.5.1 and a 3.5.2 version. Since I'm reading enough problems, not to advice people to update just yet. Anyway, thanks for the support!

@@52NightSky, index files downloaded and everything seems to be OK. Now I need a clear night to experiment.
@52NightSky3 жыл бұрын
Good to hear that Valter, I've done some testing with K-Stars 3.5.2 but I'm not entirely satisfied Polar Alignment will work the way you want it to. It might be good to install 3.5.1 to be safe.

@@52NightSky, I've created a backup, but need to get a card to flash it first.
@52NightSky3 жыл бұрын
@@astroazores i dont think you need a card. You are running k-stars on a windows machine right? You can just download the 3.5.1 build, uninstall k-stars (or rename the folder in your programfiles) and install it on your windows machine. The stellarmate should need no adjustments. Don't get me wrong having a backup is great!

Hi, first excelente video. Second, is possible to download the index-files in Windows from web. If is possible, how can i do? What would be the web address? Because the delay time is so much (approx. 64Gb). I was download the index-files by Astroberry EKOS but don´t plate solving.

I want to add two more index files but I am unable to select the check box. Can you tell me what I am doing wrong?
@Saxonpod2 жыл бұрын
I've downloaded all the index files but I can't download 2.0 - 2.8 index-4200 (13.6 G). It starts to download and gets to 1/48 then the RAM usage maxes out and closes ekos. Is there another way to install the last index file?
@tncoltsfan3 жыл бұрын
Where do you get these "index files" I'm a newbie to Astroberry/EKOS. Thanks for the video, very informative.
@52NightSky3 жыл бұрын
When you use EKOS, you get them by checking the box. It'll then download the files automatically. If you are not using EKOS you best check the Astronometry.net website. There's a link so you can download those files manually.

I guess with the Stellarmate OS everything comes preloaded. Right?
@52NightSky3 жыл бұрын
Hi Lucky, yes K-Stars and Ekos come pre installed with stellarmate OS. But you would still need to download the index files yourself. Let me know if you have any more questions.
