Wow, I really love your art style, especially the shading process. I'm looking forward for your upcoming comics in the future. Have you think about making a video to introduce some of the good books you used during your academic years? I didn't have a chance to attend an art school so I would like to know some academic art textbooks so can practice along on my own. Thank you very much.

Your videos are very inspiring and I love your art style. The pencilly-watercolor type shading looks fantastic in black and white. Thanks for sharing your process! I never once thought to write an actual script out or to lay out the text on the page before doing the art. It makes SO much sense!

Thank you so much! Yeah even on pro gigs where I'm not the letterer, I still throw rough letters on the page so I can design around it. I feel like it makes for an ultimately more cohesive and readable comic.

Videos with these kinds of titles usually only involve maybe inking and colouring of the said pages, where all the plot, character design and other research is done, so I wasn't expecting for you to be doing the 8 pages from scratch. Of course you have years of experience which makes it much easier but that's still impressive. I also like that you are making the effort to prioritise your sleep being a good model to other cartoonists.

Hey, as an aspiring manga artist/writer, how many layers do you often work with and recommend? I'm considering purchasing the original iPad this year because I've heard it will be a decent investment.
@Comicbooker2 жыл бұрын
It really depends on your temperament as an artist. I can go up from 30-60 layers usually when I work but I know pros who only use 3-4, while others use up to the hundreds! 😅

@sh00k3th2 жыл бұрын
Absolutely love this! How did you decide on the best canvas size for resolution and such?
@Comicbooker2 жыл бұрын
Just keeping it consistent with stories I've drawn in the past. I went for 400dpi of the standard North American comics page size, which is a little over the print minimum (300pdi) and lightweight enough to give me a ton of layers (lettering takes up a lot if you're writing on the page). 😁

One question, what's the minimum amount of layers I should have access to for concept art for books?
@Comicbooker2 жыл бұрын
It depends on you, and what kind of artist you are! There are artists who always flatten down and only ever work on one layer, while others use a ton of layers on each piece. I’d look at your last 5 works and average out your layer count to get a number.
