Well, it's been almost a year since I last commented on this life-changing video. Ever since 7th grade, you really jumpstarted me in drawing things I never thought possible. Some of those drawings are never finished, like the previous ideas I posted here, and some proved to be the best there was. Once I was introduced to Homestuck and the people I roleplay with to this day, my art has changed drastically. Thank you for helping me go from blocks to curves, and squares to ovals. Without you, I would have never been able to do the sketches I gradually get better at. Keep on inspiring people to follow their dreams Phil!

I wanted to draw because I'm great when it comes to items, animals, and other things like that. But then when wanting to draw people such as myself, original characters, or friends. I couldn't draw it without visually looking at something. Such as a picture or other drawing online. Well I was sick of that and wanted to draw people from my ideas instead of looking up other people draw thing and then copying their work. So that's why I'm here. ^^

I kinda question this point tbh. I've seen a lot of bad art out there from people that have drawn a lot of art. Not to get down on anyone, you should never give up on something that you enjoy but I think that having a good eye for perspective and proportions helps big-time.

What a helpful video! I always get slogged down with fixing details while I'm first drawing, and focusing on speed has helped me a lot. To answer your question, the reason I want to be able to draw a person (or multiple people) is because I have an idea for a webcomic and while I'm fairly confident in my writing skills, my drawing is absolutely abysmal.

i am trying to draw two people baptizing, half submerged in water standing apart at closed arm's length. my problem is the body proportion to each segment from the neck on down. i know each individual doesn't have the same body proportion due to their birth. i saw you used circle larger than the head. my drawing on legs and arm's length also not in proportion looks awkward. you drew fast but missed some hint on those two areas i mention. other than that it gave me some idea. thanks. bob

This was honestly *The Best* tutorial. It just clicked so well for me. My proportions have never looked better and I'm impatient af so the speed drawing technique was bomb!! I'm looking to go into special effects makeup for film so I need to be able to nail humanoid figures to turn them into concept art for zombies, monsters, and aliens.

You said the key is speed. But as a beginner should I focus on more the fundamentals rather then the speed? Also im alot better at more of straight on view but I have a hard time with profile or angled views. Any suggestions or tips on how to try and correct this? I keep practicing but I feel like I'm not seeing something or my fundamentals are lacking. Thanks for the video man great stuff!

Much appreciated. This was helpful-covered a lot in brief time. Why draw people? I’m reworking three assignments, each with people, and now I see the feet and hands were way off. Practicing different angles is key! Thanks

Hello there. I have just begun a visual diary and loving it. My drawing of people is like a person with a sheet over their body lol. I love to paint but I think its time I learnt to draw properly. You are very fast which is hard for absolute beginner like me but I love what you are teaching and I rewind constantly for now. Thanks and love your humour.

I loved the way that you demonstrated that. Would you consider doing one or two more videos with more detail and instructions. The reason that I'm interested in you doing more people is because you showed it to me in a way that I think I may actually be able to master the human body. thank you for sharing your talents with us. Hi! I am an avid reader and with the movie industry casting ALL the wrong folks for characters in my beloved books I decided to start drawing so that my mental image of a character remains pure even after seeing the movie. Thanks for your help. it's crazy how you can see the full end even though your lines start off as simple stick figures. As someone that doesn't know how to draw I'm hoping practice makes perfect and it's something learnable.
