How to draw a tree step by step with soft pastels | Easy drawing tutorial for beginners

In this simple drawing tutorial for beginners, I will show you how to draw a tree step-by-step with soft pastels on pastel paper. First, we will mark all the darks & lights. Then we will learn to blend soft pastels & to create sky holes between the branches of the tree. I will also show you soft pastel techniques I use to create a painterly effect & to make the tree look more realistic.
For this tutorial, you will need a handful of soft pastels (greens & blues) & Ingres paper or Canson MiTeintes pastel paper (the reverse side). Don't worry if you do not have the same exact colors I am using, simply find similar ones & experiment :)

I have been searching for something all over youtube and cannot find it (I am sure it exists somewhere but I can't find it) - how using a toned paper makes a difference to your paintings as compared to white paper. Thank you, Shanti! Yes, I tend to blow the dust off when I record (really difficult to tilt the drawing board and continue recording), you are completely right - blowing the dust away - not a good idea :) but I was coming down with a cold when I recorded the video, so hopefully it was that :)
