A diamond is nothing more then a piece of charcoal that handled pressure extremely well. Every charcoal drawing therefore has, from a materialistic perspective, the innate ability to become a diamond. That's probably why charcoal is one of my all time favorite mediums. One of the best mediums to start with for beginners as well. As a beginner you have to understand that art has to be one of a kind. It should be precious, extremely rare and unique... It should be like a diamond. Great video Kirsty

Well should not be precious because diamond is pure carbon And purest allotrope but charcoal have lumps of impurities and flaws in structure of carbon so it is not that precious and beautifully

I learned a lot just by watching this video. Charcoal drawing is the art of producing finished drawings and sketchy studies using charred sticks of wood; property of charcoal as a medium is that it is ephemeral, readily wiped, or smudged.

Brushes are great for blending. You don't need expensive brushes. A little hidden gem: makeup brushes (like makeup fan brushes), are insanely great for blending charcoal and won't break the budget
@ironmountain7907 Жыл бұрын
I use charcoal from my bbq pit, work great but you do have to shape it a little bit to work with it and it’s brittle so it can break easy depending on the piece you grab. It’s way more cost effective than buying charcoal pencil supplies.

Hello so I have these charcoal pencils that are only labeled as soft, medium, and hard. I really dont know whats the difference between the three. Can you give me some tips about it.
@YMTZ184 жыл бұрын
K so 'soft' means it's easier to blend the charcoal and 'hard' means it's harder to blend. Medium is a mix of how easy or hard it is to blend.

That’s really great of you. Faber Castell is a great brand. I used graphite until I graduated high school because that is what I got compliments on-it was my safe zone. 10 years later colored pencils/pastels are my favorite. Your nephew will grow and will later be thankful he already has the supplies when he’s ready to try something new 👍❤️

Do white charcoal pencils good for creating highlights and details?
@dei76723 жыл бұрын
hi! i know this is way out of time already but i suggest if u use black charcoal pencils on ur drawings, u might want to use a white gel pens (or just regular white pen) instead bcos with my experience using white charcoal on black charcoal isn"t gonna give u the best result, black charcoal gives my white charcoal a trace of black which sucks, so yeah i suggest don't use white charcoal on black charcoal :DD hope this helps (somehow) :DD
Some dislikes here, probably by mistake. But is ther any way to paint in oils or acrylics over sketching and shadows?

Hi! i just wanted to say that i absolutely love you channel and the content you make! Hey Kristy! Loved this video, really helpful! I just have one question... do you use any finish/spray for these type of drawings that smudge very easily? If selling artwork like that it would be really useful to prevent smudging. I had problems even with normal graphite drawings, because some people just don't seem to understand it when I say that they can't touch the drawing if they don't want it to smudge xD
