Excellent video tutorial Jonah. You deserve to have a bigger audience. Good luck. Here's a weird thing that I do when playing standing up. When I am drawing on 4, I bend my knees for the bend. Obviously it's psychological but "if it works!"

I wish I had seen this BEFORE I started to learn how to bend. This is great info and it's great to see the MRI pix. I tried all different mouth/tongue shapes and had to figure out how to get there. This video helps me visualize as I become more consistent.

On a G harmonica, I need to drop my lower jaw and open my mouth to get a full 1-draw bend, like I'm saying "eh-awwww". It also requires a lot of air movement. I tried to get a full 1-draw bend on a low-C harmonica, and I felt like I didn't have the airflow to do it, even if the mouth shape was right.

Not really. Tilting it to the side can help when you're first starting out for some reason, but if you really want to master bends, buy a G harmonica. The reeds are super loose and easy to bend. Or just practice on the first hole on a C (And remember, if you just can't bend on the higher notes, it's because you're going too far. It takes very little effort to bend on tighter reeds)

My best way to get a bend: make the sound of an aircraft/jet that is ... uhh... going down or diving to the ground (pitch goes from normal to lower and lower; btw... that's your tongue moving backwards 🙂

I'm soooo strugling with my two hole full step bend. All the others are going fine. I'm using Seydel Big Six harps. Practicing the godfather love theme and also basic scale starting at one hole blow... Slowly I'm getting there... 😊 Thanks for tips.

As I said in the video, your breathing may be the problem. Try that diaphragm exercise and some additional deep breathing before you play...standing up when playing may also help. Once you that bend with some consistency, you won't forget how to do it!

I really struggle with bending and look forward to trying this. That being said, on a standard C harp, when I draw on the 2nd hole, I naturally bend and cannot get that note in tune. Do you have any idea why this is happening, as it's only when I draw that hole everything else sounds right for playing a straight note, and I don't experience it on any blow notes?
