I am so glad I found you. Although I was an artist for many years, trying almost every medium, for the last decade I have only worked on my iPad using various apps, but mostly Procreate. I watched your basic Procreate tutorial and knew most of what you posted except for a few things. You sound so bright and happy and I love the way you speak- so clearly and inspiring. I am going to follow the rest of this series and as many others as I have time for. I am 92 years young and still love arts and crafts even though I don’t do much other than work on my IPad. Thank you so much.

Starting the video with a real eye and the elements of an eye is very clever. I have been drawing eyes all of my life and have never drawn them with tear ducts. I never even considered the tear duct as an element of the eye and now I realise it makes such a difference. The same goes for the reflection - it’s another element I have never drawn which also adds depth!

Thanks so much for the great tutorial. I amazed myself and drew the 50 eyes! BTW, I did medical macro photography for several years. I observed that the pupil is off center in the iris. The pupil is always slightly closer to the nose. This is how I easily look at a photo and know if I am looking at a right or left eye.

Your vids are excellent! Agreed w the comment below!! (most recent comment) I absolutely love you tuts and like many is (is? am? who knows 😂) always looking for free tuts and ones that go into detail/depth about any concept I'm wanting to learn, and you've nailed every part that I've read about in books, and the fact that I've learned that I'm much more of a visual learner, esp when it comes to learning art, this def helps. Very much enjoyed this vid, and these lessons are really for anyone, including those like me who really need to brush up on basic anatomy stuff.

try pushing less with the apple pen. since its pressure sensitive, you might be pushing hard. or just turn the scale of the pen down.

I prefer to draw my eyes taller than they are wide. Sometimes they look really tall. I want to work on making them look more normal (I usually draw cats and stuff like that) by making them wider. But whenever I try to do that, they don't always show the emotion that I want them to show. Like, I usually draw unhappy characters with their eyes longer than they are taller, but when I try and do it when the character is happy, they don't look happy. Do you have any suggestions about that? I've tried making the tops of the eyes more rounded, but it still doesn't look quite right.
@BardotBrush5 жыл бұрын
You should definitely check out my video on emotions: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iXXbYalvoLOWhbs There are characteristics for the different emotions. You can use your tall eyes as the "neutral expression" and then see how to manipulate those eyes to make them convey emotion. The "neutral expression" I used in the video is round eyes, which is obviously not how eyes look in real life, so it's ok that what you are drawing isn't exactly like real life.
