I'm loving these master clases and looking forwards to keep going with your amazing lessons. I've read a few books about perspective and practice a fair amount but nothing like the voice of the experience and these great explication to put all these information that i had and didn't know how to really apply to settle down in my mind, and my sketchbook. I can't strech enough how happy i'm to have found your videos. 10/10

Great video Luke :) Will u cover topics about cones, elipses and spheres, etc..? There is also question about using ruler for drawing shapes, just to get more precise. One more time, great video, waiting for new materials :)
@Luke.Adam.Hawker
@Luke.Adam.Hawker 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Robert! I’ll definitely be covering the things you mentioned, as for a ruler, feel free to use whatever feels best for you. From my point of view, I never used rulers as I don’t enjoy the process. This series is about showing how I learnt to draw in ways I believe developed my skills along the way.

Could you explain how to do this type of lines that you usually use? And how to interpretate an image in order to draw the scene as you? The result is amazing, thaks
@Luke.Adam.Hawker

Thanks! I’ll be doing episodes specifically looking at my line technique etc. For now I’m focusing in the principles of perspective. Then we all have the foundation to keep learning.

Thank you for the tutorial, got me drawing again for the first time in a long while 👍🏻 At 17:15 you say: Draw through the line, not to it. Before the line, not from it. Could you elaborate on what you mean by that?
@Luke.Adam.Hawker
@Luke.Adam.Hawker 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks, that’s great to know! So at that point I’m describing how I tend to cross my lines, instead of worrying about stopping/starting at a particular destination. If people are concerned too much with that it can cause your to slow down and go off course.
@sipsonic
@sipsonic 4 жыл бұрын
@@Luke.Adam.Hawker Ah I get it now, so start and end your line before and beyond the points you’re aiming for, gotcha. Thanks!

@Luke.Adam.Hawker

Thanks John, I'l cover this, you can always start with the typical cube and then work within it to adjust the lengths of the sides. Hard to explain over a comment but. hopefully my inktober videos with help and cover more irregular shapes and forms.

Can you explain your thought process with the excess lines-drawn-through at like 11:14 - 11:24 for example? Are they just guidelines? Can you explain how you use them in a sketching-on-site setting? I understand for this exercise they are probably inconsequential, but they seem characteristic to your style. I've completed programs like Drawabox that have you complete similar exercises, but your style feels looser and more forgiving. Edit: Big fan BTW! I am an aspiring architect and love your work.

Sure, these were to help me stay focused on keeping the horizontal and vertical lines true. I’m often using light construction lines to help guide me along the way. It’s good to not be hesitant in making marks.

TY for doing the Video's!! I find I am still getting lost... Even with he first three... and I have done perspective houses before. Somehow I am having hard time seeing the first three cubes. And then as you draw in the bunch of them at the beginning. Almost as if I am not sure if the cube is getting smaller or bigger as we draw them. I know this makes no sense Just wanted to say it is still a bit confusing... Would love if somehow you can slow it down... or break it down a bit. Ill keep trying though. So even on your first cue which is the cube the outer square on inner square? Its just hard to understand what that picture means (Since its on the horizontal line maybe? I just have trouble in all your cubes seeing which is the closer wall and which is further away if that makes any sense.

Hi Sueb, don't stress, it is visually confusing but each step in the same, have a few more watches of the video. It is really important to draw along, if you need to pause, pause. sadly I can't go much slower as the video will be far to long. I would suggest starting with the first video in the series, the overview as this covers more theory. I'll be uploading more videos and I'm certain with patience and dedication you will master it. Thanks for the feedback!
