So much useful information. Thank you! I was told a lot to study the masters but nobody says how to do it and your breakdown of it is amazing!

Thankyou very much for your kind comment! 😭 this is just part 1, I'm hoping to do more so I'll be deep diving in learning everything Jim Lee 😁

This is great! I'd love to see you do a studies series on someone with a retro style like Bruce Timm or Darwyn Cooke, two of my favorites.

That is such a good idea! It would be so far out of my drawing comfort zone that I think it would be a real worth while challenge for me (and hopefully everyone!).

Brilliant observation on the arms of females vs males, and the lack of vascularity.

Thank you again! It really is very surprising when I noticed it, but now I have noticed it I can't not notice the lack of vascularity 😂

Hey good job mixing up the camera angles to make it more visually entertaining. I'd say that if you focus on making small gradual improvements to your lighting setup will have a big impact. In terms of artists: i'd vote for Karl Kopinsky 😊 Keep it up!
@LearnComicsWithPancake4 ай бұрын
Thankyou for a great critique on the video quality itself - I agree, the lighting is less than ideal - currently using an ordinary room light haha! Love your videos, thank you so much for finding little old me and commenting :) Karl Kopinsky would be a wonderful deep dive too! :O

Jim Lee’s X-Men Artist’s Edition is gold for anybody who really wants to study how he does it. Hush Unwrapped is also an amazing glimpse into his pencils!

I didn't know about the artist edition.. 😱 elsewhere in my house I can hear my wallet screaming 😂 thank you for letting me (and everyone else!) Know 😊

@@LearnComicsWithPancake they’re scans of the original work at 1:1. I’ve preordered Mazzucchelli’s Batman Artist edition that’s coming out in August. Honestly these books are worth every penny. On Amazon IDW also does ‘Artisan’ editions which are the size of absolutes, but the same scans of the originals, and easier on your wallet

@carlkligerman1981 I will see if I can get one in time for my rendering video, it would be amazing to use it as reference! Thank you so much for the information 😊

@@LearnComicsWithPancake I’m old school. And now that we’ve lost Ed and the Kayfabe channel I guess we all gotta do our bit to keep the culture alive. If you haven’t watched their backlog check it out, so much great crit, especially of historical work; and eighties nineties mainstream and independent comix. Pretty cool stuff,

@carlkligerman1981 I've watched one or two but I should for sure check out more of their 90s throwback videos! 😁

When I was a wee lad in the early 90s, and just getting into drawing comics of my OCs, Jim was a HUGE influence on my anatomy, if not my inking style (that was more informed by Eastman and Laird's Mirage TMNT comics). I devoured every X-Men issue he drew, and when he created WildCATS I was all over that. Still have those issues from back then! Even today I still find myself influenced by his work, especially the way I draw muscular abs and torsos. As it happens I'm doing page revisions for my first full graphic novel about some of my D&D characters (that I hope to get published) and this video just put me in a drawing mood when I've felt slightly burned out the last day or so, so you just earned a sub. Back to my tablet!
@LearnComicsWithPancake4 ай бұрын
You've both inspired me to finally read TMNT and made me really happy you found my video useful! Do you have a link to your work in progress graphic novel? If not please let me know when you publish it! 😁 p.s. thank you for subbing and commenting!

@@LearnComicsWithPancake The Mirage TMNT comics are some of my all time faves, but I was very into underground B&W comics at the time. It's interesting going back to their roots considering the characters now and how they've changed! I'm not sure if YT will let me link it in a comment but I'll try under this comment. Bear in mind the first pages are almost 4 years old and I was still learning how to draw the characters then, I promise the art improves!

Traditional drawing: Ohuhu Marker A4 Sketchpad, 2mm lead holder steadtler 780 pencil, if she likes colouring then I suggest ohuhu alcohol markers - way cheaper than copic! 😊 Digital: iPad 2021 10.2 inch using procreate I wish your daughter luck on her artist journey, you're a good parent for supporting her!

The head measurement thing scares me. I use 2 hearts one facing up one down with 3 points on a heart the top 2 are shoulders the bottom 2 are hips. Crotch and neck are at the tip of the hearts.
