This is fascinating. I would love to learn this method. I need to set aside time.

Oh fun! The grid method is my favorite but I’ve never tried the grid on photoshop. So smart

Smart way to avoid the grid lines. I personally don't use the grid method but I guess it would be helpful for commissions.

@@IykizDesign I used the Loomis method for a long time and recently switched to grid. I like to overlay a rough Loomis on top of the grid too. I have a difficult time without a grid with multiple people or when there's arms or anything else other than just a head. I'll definitely use more "cheats" when there's a commission. I'll challenge myself more when I'm working on something for myself. 😄

Thanks for giving the tips about the different types of pencils! I've never known what all the letters meant. What tool did you use to create the white spots in the eyes and the hair lines over the brushed charcoal? Is it some type of eraser pencil? Going to try to get some start up gear and want to know what I will need as a beginner.

YES! It's an eraser. I couldn't do without it. Here's the link :) amzn.to/4eMPUN3

Kayleen used a Tombow Eraser. It’s a must have for anyone doing graphite or charcoal drawing. Amazon sells them.
