I love your tutorials am just starting my dogs portrait she has a white area on her nose so just seeing how you shadow and shape the depth it’s going ok I think! I would like to send a picture to you of my progress so far, but can’t see how to do it on here. 😊

Thank you for this video, I really appreciate the tips! I was wondering, will you put a timelapse of the full dog here on youtube? I think this is a beautiful drawing and seeing it all come together in a timelapse would be lovely. 😁💜

Eventually yeah =). I still have a little bit to do on this but the time lapse version should be up on KZbin at some point in August.

I love your work. Will these techniques work will color pencil?
@zaratomsart2 жыл бұрын
Thank you, thata really kind ❤. I used to work in colour pencil before switching to pastels. I would use a slightly different layering approach as colour pencils are tricky layering light over dark. So I'd always be leaving the white of the paper showing of the brighter curls and then build up similarly as shown here with adding the subtle darker shades ontop =). But I'd definitely be putting white down first in the lighter areas of fur or leaving the white of the paper free.

you may be interested in Jane Maday's book Draw Baby Animals where she uses pastel as a base layer and finished with colored pencil.

@@haleybrown2836 colour pencil and pastels can work really well together. Beautiful art can vs created but I personally dont like that in some cases you can see that colour pencil has been used because its shinier than pastels. Pastels can then struggle to grip ontop of the slicker colour pencil layer but a PanPastel base and then colour pencils ontop can work really well 😍
