Homie don't get disheartened by the views, keep up the good stuff. People normally dont talk about basics and plenty amateurs look for that. Keep it up don't let it make you feel down

Just your suggestion of locking the wrist and using your elbow instead improved my line drawing instantly. Such a simple thing but I didn't realize it was the shakiness of my wrist movement causing my lines to curve. Thank you!
@Ash-tr9gy3 жыл бұрын
Holy shit. Thank you so much. The “look where the line is going not where youre drawing” tip is game changing. I was literally never taught to properly draw straight lines, i was just sat down and told to practice everyday in my classes, and not told the technique for how to practice RIGHT. So we moved on and i learned perspective, value, composition, form, etc. But was missing one fundamental. Which meant that my drawings that used curved lines like the human figure was good, but all of my geometric objects like buildings and cars were crooked or on a slant. THANK YOU

Sir, you just helped me deal with a problem I've been dealing with for months now, which shouldn't have been the case lol. But, as soon as I applied your method, I saw instant improvement in my ability to draw straighter. Honestly, your video feels like a godsend. Should anybody I know be facing the same struggle as I and so many others did, I know just the video to recommend to them!

I'm an amateur drawer so this video really helps and it reassure me that I'm doing the right thing. Sidenote: I'm actually pretty decent at shading which I find odd, but when it comes to drawing straight lines i struggle. It's a bit odd.

This is extremely useful. 12 and a half minutes out of my day improved my straight line skills immediately.

Been drawing for years, it's little things like this video that gives improvement. You can watch a tutorial on how to draw anything but without the basics it may as well be pointless.

this is GREAT advice and i do something similar, however i do something slightly different that i think creates a better result. the better way to develop this precision is to stop ghosting---meaning, stop moving your arm without making the mark. every ghosted movement you make is a line your muscles actually practiced drawing, but WITHOUT feedback on accuracy or quality because the mark was drawn in the air. instead of practicing four movements in the air after you put down a pair of dots, put down four pairs of dots and make four actual lines---no ghosting. each one will give you visual feedback and you're moving the same amount. per unit time of practice, you'll be making several times more lines, getting several times more visual feedback, and thus more accuracy.

Do you have any video about how to draw straight lines in a artwork without rotating the page? It would be helpful for me and others.
@krrrr88702 жыл бұрын
You'd end up hurting your wrist if you don't rotate the page a bit for straight lines. I experienced that but maybe you could experiment and try on your own. ^^

how many hours per day should i practice drawing lines everyday? I'm purely starting from the beginning
@nikia59745 жыл бұрын
If your day is free, do it for a whole 24 hours with breaks. If your day is a little busy, do it when you can. Basically, do it for as long as the hours you have free. Even if it's for a few minutes, practice.
