I've tried the envelope method and I had a hard time getting the proportions of the line lengths and angles correct, which kind of defeats the process. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks.

Hi JC, thank you for your comment! Are you having a hard time getting the proportions of the line lengths and angles correct with the figure inside the envelope shape, or with the envelope shape itself?

I think it's best you measure the figure you are drawing .... from top to bottom and the width also ( with a pencil or with a knitting needle by going a couple feet back)...before you even start the envelope thing. You will have a general idea how long your lines will be ...and about the angles..... how hard is it ?? You just need to look at the high points and the major angle changes....not all...only the major ones.
