Getting my body weight down to where it should be for my height has made a massive difference to how I look and feel. Clothes look a lot better on a trim frame and opens the door to slimmer fitting styles, particularly with shirts.

I'm a 57 yearold grandfather with a half decent build. I love wearing joggers with a tee shirt and wearing various shoe styles. The right clothes, color combinations and proper fit can make even an older guy look good. Neutral colour combinations are the best. I actually dress better and look better than 30 years ago. Enjoyed your video.

At 39 years old I went from decades of a "rock" or "skater" look to a Classic style thanks to your channel, Gentleman's Gazette among others. I'm 42 now. When I'm skating, it's jeans and tee, otherwise I'm rocking the sports coat with dark denim, chinos or trousers. It's been quite a journey. You guys didn't brainwash me or anything. I've always joked around about "wearing a suit everyday" as my main fashion. Watching The Modest Man has shown me how to own classic styles in an organic and casual way.

Trim the fat is probably the best advice. Also, look after your skin. Been noticing that I've been getting glances from women much younger than me when I wear fitting (not tight) t-shirt and dress shorts (not too long, not too short). I asked my 17 year old daughter who I see once week "Do I look like I workout?" She simply answered "Yes". It's a good feeling to be acknowledged. I'm turning 55 this year btw.

If your in your 50s and 40s, keeps up with yourself and looks younger than you are please dont be afraid to dress trendy in current age most younger ppl love seeing someone older that doesn't dress lame and has style even if its their own unique sense of style. You see ppl like Tommy Lee from Motley Crue, and many more men over 50 that looks amazing and natural in what they wear its not the 90s wear what ever you want that makes you feel happy if Ringo Star can rock a popular Bape hoodie at 80 years old, you guys out there can rock some street style its all about confidence.
@danicerul4565

The reality is that you have to wear whatever makes you feel good, whatever boost up your confidence. it's not about trying to look young or old is more about who you really are as a person and how confident you are in doing what you do, whatever it is you do. Of course there are limits, but if you decide to go to the extreme make sure you wear them with confidence cuz that way no body would judge you and if they do, remember, those are their own insecurities talking.I ride the train everyday and and I see people of any age of any size wearing whatever they feel more comfortable in.

Thanks for making this video. I think a lot of Brock’s advice just naturally works for those of us a little older. Good style is timeless. The white Oxford button down shirt - definitely a staple in my wardrobe. But I buy some other colors too. Yes avoid labels, but as a thin 61 year-old I still buy solid Ralph Lauren Polo shirts with the smaller logo only and on sale. The newer bigger logos are garish. Their custom slim size fits me like a million bucks and look way better on me than a solid Tee. Nothing comes close in terms of fit. Also for me, a skinny fit jean or chino just fits way better and doesn’t look weird. I’ve been skinny my whole life. Stick closer to timeless classics if you’re older. Brock is one of the best sources for fashion advice regardless of age. Even though we’re not in your target market take it as a compliment that older men listen to your advice. Good fashion is ageless and timeless in some sense. Thanks again.

Everything you listed for what not to wear at age 40-plus applies universally to anyone who wants to be a stylish dresser. I never wore those types of clothing in my 20s because they looked slovenly to me. It's not age-specific, in my opinion, but just bad dressing regardless of age.

In my opinion, this list was about 50/50 (maybe 60/40). I won't run down the entire list here, but I think the "setting" of your attire plays a large role. For example, flip-flops with denim for a dinner or night out...nope. Flip-flops when I'm having a summer get-together on my patio around the firepit, cold beers and grilling out...yes, please. Classic white, black, navy tennis shoes anytime, but save the Nike Freeruns for the gym. BTW, I'm 53.

Great video, and great tips. I wear suits and jackets for work, and even out socially (sans covid-19) just about every weekday. No tie sometimes, especially in the evening, but with a pocket square for color. But I find it so tempting to wear a zip up black, blue or light grey hoodie on the weekends, over a tee shirt and jeans. Think raking leaves and walks along the beach on brisk fall days. Hard to give those up!

It's difficult to epress certain vital concepts, but I'm going to give it a dipplomaic try. Your personal presentation, neutral accent in English, and flawless grammar along with highly precise vocabulary choices add a credibility to your fashion counselling. This is important for many reasons as you are making a strong effort to not offend anyone who is facing the consequences of ageing. Saying good-bye to ones youth is not an easy matter, and some clothing items carry a full demarcation between being young and no longer being young. Also, one can become emotionally attached to certain clothing items, they way we might things they make us look. You are essentially breaking the news to the new generation of "older" adults. Move over and ship off your wardrobe to the thrift stores; that's a bit harsh, but your presentation does not ungraciously have that effect; au contraire. Thank you for these great and useful clothing tips. Outsanding video.

At 54, I love the new trend of distressed jeans. Guys like Rock star guitarist Mike Mushok of Staind and Saint Asonia always rocks dark blue distressed jeans. I love how comfortable they are and will wear a dark button up shirt or sweater. I also love to wear western boots with them. I also wear plain black Adidas sneakers , especially when it gets warmer outside. I love the hat ideas, not being a hat person, it's a great tip. I also love to match my watch collection with outfits. G-Shock Ga100 with black jeans and a plain T-shirt, or my Timex weekender with light colored shorts and polo . My Diesel Mega Chief with my dark blue jeans and black button down. I also have a few Vostok on a mesh to wear as a dress watch.

I have looked at KZbin presentations with tips for the older men and their wardrobe. I think that your presentation has a sense of caring. Other presentations I've watched have the tone in their voice of: "Hay old man, it's time to move on and not embarrasse yourself, we feel uncomfortable and sad for your and being near you ". Thank you for the respect. I'm 63 and very fit. I don't want to become an older man with "dat bod". We do have value with other gifts and talents we can share with you. One mistake you and other people who have channels similar to your show images of older men who can pull off a younger guy look without going too far. It's not a matter of wearing the styles you suggest, it's the money that oozes from their pant pockets. You can look look good when you have that kind of money. They know that they're rich and invest those high dollars in keeping them looking world renowned. They don't they want let go. It's risky, but do a show sometime actually addressing a blue-collar factory worker on the street. Instead, you show an array of world renowned designers or actors. It's a thought, that's all. Excuse me, it's time to put on some more 'Old Spice' :{)

I think most of this advice is for business casual settings. There's nothing wrong with wearing a tee shirt, baseball cap, jeans and sneakers, but let's be honest, we want to look good because that makes us feel good, and in that case you should choose more mature options. Plain, quality shirts, more neutral sneakers, leather loafers etc. Although truthfully, getting in shape and maintaining a clean cut look is a huge part of this.

Nobody's forcing me to watch videos like this but my mother is this type of person. The type who is (or thinks they are) an expert when it comes to whether clothes or hairstyle suit the wearer, and invariably they feel the need to push their opinion on to others who are doing the "wrong" thing. Sadly I've had a lifetime of this and I'm sure I'm not alone. For me, having peace is giving up what I want and just doing as I'm told.

I’ve started dressing better within the las year. Kevin Samuels would always have a suit on and emphasized dressing up. I also tend to watch vintage videos and the comments always talk about how back in the old days, people always dressed up in public and how they miss that. I say, be the change you want to see. I dress up frequently when I go out and people surely notice! I get nods, smiles, etc. I’m 27 and I like your videos because we are similar height. I’m sort of limited in what I wear cause I’m a shorter guy. I’ve really liked your videos because they apply to me and I like your outfit ideas.

Great video. But I can't seem to give up my AJ 1's . 52yrs old and still rock em, these days with nice pair of dark blue jeans, a button down shirt, and a nice jacket or blazer.

im looking into changing my style to the more nice and adult look, i´m turning 42 soon and since i been a skater most of my life, i tend to only wear gym pants, baggy hoodies and loose t-shirts and only wear Vans shoes. I still want to keep a youngish look as i am a "young" 42 and like comfortable clothes that does not make you feel too trapped and unable to move. I am gay and we do tend to dress younger then we are. I like wearing jeans but don´t own a shirt as i can´t find a proper fit as i am only 5,7 but stocky build and has a big beard and buzzed hair.

I just turned 50. Looked at my wardrobe, and it's painfully obvious that I am still dressing like I'm in my late 20's/early 30's. Started making slow, subtle changes until I find a style that I like. Some of my changes listed. Headwear: I own too many baseball caps with my favorite team's logo. I'm really enjoying the flatcap/newsboy hats. I also bought an Australian outback-style hat, which I'll rock for colder temps. I look quite young for me age (my profile pic is about 2 weeks old as of this post), so I try to show off my hair while I still have it. 😀 Jeans: I like 'slightly' faded denim jeans, got rid of the ones that are too faded. Black denim still looks decent. Doubt I'll ever give up denim jeans, but I'll keep looking around. Shirts: Waaaay too many black t-shirts, ditched the ones that have prints. Still opting for darker colors -- deep tan, olive drab green, brown/burgandy. I love the Henley-style long sleeve shirts and they go great with button-down shirts. Jackets: I own a cotton-duck Dickies jacket, rather worn but looks decent for everyday wear. Looking for a longer type jacket (similar to Jeff Morgan at 4:36). Haven't gotten brave enough for a blazer, but I'm keeping my eyes open. Shoes: I'm weaning myself off of sneakers, unless I'm working out. I find myself wearing brown or black hiking-style boots (retired military and old habits die hard sometimes). Eventually I'll get around to finding a pair of clean-patterned Oxfords that are comfortable & not hard on my feet. Hair: Still have it! And yes, the "swept back" look does indeed look good. I grew a beard and colored it (the chin area is straight-up grey and looks aged). Again, I embrace that I'm 50... but I'm taking advantage of the fact that I look younger. Just small subtle changes, until I get used to my new style. Thank you for the informative video.

Do you have any suggestions for when I'm changing brake pads or swapping summer wheels for winter wheels? I suppose it's not as important since I'm in my own garage. What if I can be seen if I'm building a deck in my yard? lol

I am 57 …I like all your suggestions and styles. And I would definitely dress like in the examples that you are showing if I am going to dinner or a party. What I don’t understand is what would be appropriate for my routine? I am a machinist and on my weekends I am always messing around with home improvement projects and running out to get paint, caulk and 2x4’s…sand and gravel…etc. What would you suggest for a guy like me who is always getting dirty even on his days off?…

Faded jeans on an 80-year-old? I don't know how you can recommend something like that, regardless of whether it's worn by I don't know what fashion designer. Maybe you can also recommend cut jeans, right? As long as you have a navy blue jacket and leather shoes, what does it matter?

I'm a 45yo, African-American, service member. I appear to be a bit younger than I am (I've even been questioned about my rank, lol). I attempt to dress in an age-appropriate way, but it seems that people think I'm trying to dress like an 'old man'. Unfortunately, there is a big difference in how people treat you when they think you're in your late 20s in comparison to someone who is middle-aged. I love being on leave and letting my grey hair and stubble grow out a bit (you're not really supposed to in the military). It feels natural, and people see me the way I want to be seen. Maybe it's time to retire... Edit: Big Fan of the Style O.G.

I'm a 60yr old CEO of a Pharma Company and lift heavy to moderate weights 5-6 days a wk... Thanks to that life style, I have wide shoulders wide back athletic build that allows anything I wear look awesome... I stick to solid colors, (black, white, light blue, pastels).
