modern cars usually come with and are recommended a zero weight oil mainly for emissions. 5 weight won't destroy your engine (unless you have some 5 figure race engine) but might void your warranty if your car still has one.
@Nick_Ramirez2 жыл бұрын
Yea, I think it is usually pretty safe to run what is recommended from the factory unless you are doing some crazy high speed time attack driving where you are really pushing the car to its limits.

I also appreciate the info on this chassis so much! Could you potentially teach us about measuring and setting up ride height with coil overs?

I was lucky to live near a shop owned by an FD driver so I always just took it to him. I recommend the website Wheel It Fit for any fitment calculations. Its a pretty cool tool.

Can we talk about clutch kicks? Is it really painful for your 86, etc! Thx man!
@Nick_Ramirez Жыл бұрын
you can not get away with not doing clutch kicks if your 86 is stock power. The car is so slow you will definitely need to utilize them especially if you are slowing down a lot on smaller windy tracks. Your clutch will naturally wear down faster because of it but if you are only doing one event a month or every couple of months, it really should not be that bad. if you plan to drift your car just try to always have a bit of money set aside for a clutch job in case of an emergency.

Yo! I'm fumbling over which LCA to go with. I'm currently on 17s with a similar ride height to yours. Were you able to get 0 toe 0 camber in the rear with SPC LCA and stock toe arms? Side note, all the knowledge you share on the 86 is soooo helpful. Appreciate you man!

Do you have any thoughts on the pros and cons of 17 and 18 inch wheels? Responsiveness, tire cost, etc
@Nick_Ramirez2 жыл бұрын
As I mainly use my car to daily and for grassroots drifting, I decide my wheels purely on style. I don't really care about weight just whatever wheel looks the best to me is what I run. 17s and 18s Look great on this chassis, you can't really go wrong with either. 18s for more of that hot look and 17s if you want a more classic look.

@Nick Ramirez Can you make a video of taliking about the reliability of the FA20? Wonder if the weakest point of the car.
@Nick_Ramirez2 жыл бұрын
The FA20 is reliable as long as you do regular maintenance, leave it stock, and don't buy one earlier than the 2015 model. I have friends that drift multiple times a year and daily stock 2015+ FA20s with 120K+ Miles on them.

How common are axle ratio gear changes in this chassis in the drift scene?
@starfy1197 Жыл бұрын
have you ever had a clicking sound coming from what i think is the axles, i heard that they get loose but it started happening after one event
@Nick_Ramirez Жыл бұрын
Sounds like the axels to me. After you switch em out the first time, it will become routine lol. They should probably last 3-5 events unless your car is super low. Also maybe try subframe risers, I hear they help with low cars.
@starfy1197 Жыл бұрын
@@Nick_Ramirez my car is only been on trd springs and never anything else in its life so im suprised, is there any upgrades to stop this from happening again
@Nick_Ramirez Жыл бұрын
@@starfy1197 Yes there are actually quite a lot of options to try to "fix" the suspension geometry when you lower the car in order to avoid busting axels when drifting. I am not an expert on this but I will tell you what I know to at least help point you in the right direction. There are Subframe risers that I talked about in a recent video about drift setup, also differential risers, and some people even go as far as to cut slots in the sub frame right above the rear axels. You are not super low though, I was much lower than you and ran 5 events and dailed my car every day an hour with no issue. I would say, switch out the axels and see how long the new ones last you before you do any other modifications because you may not really even need them. Good luck bro! Follow me on IG if you want to talk some more! @ichigodrift

Do u have a recommended front wheel size to run with cut knuckles? I rub with 18x9 +22 at full lock so I bought 17x7 +50 with a big ass spacer to solve the problem but I’m not satisfied with the fitment. I’ve heard 17x9 +20 offset seems to work but I’m not sure
@Nick_Ramirez2 жыл бұрын
Not too sure about cut knuckles but with the GKtech kit, 17x9+38 (Gramlight 57DR Size) with a 25mm spacer works just fine. I always just buy the exact wheels I want first solely based on the style I am going for, try my hardest to get a decent offset and then do trial and error with spacers. Fitting wheels is kind of an art lol. There is a pretty decent website called "Wheel it fit" that might be able to help you out if you can't get in touch with someone that has run cut knuckles. We can talk further on IG if you want in the future @ichigodrift Thanks for your comment!

I am going to have an FA20 Turbo guy on soon. Maybe K-swap one day but I do not know anything about those engines so I am probably not the best guy to talk about that haha. Need to do some more research first for sure.
@Pharaoh_The_Great Жыл бұрын
@@Nick_Ramirez ok cool, if you google k power industries they have a kit you can use for the zn6 k swap. They say it’s more 50/50 balance and lighter in weight. It just looks kinda weird in the engine bay since it’s a lot of space.
