Here are some very basic notes i made for myself from this video, hopefully its useful to someone Diff: 85-95% accel 0% deaccel or Lock accel and deaccel Brakes: Balance - all the way to the rear Pressure - about 30%. Note: Do this mostly for tandem builds. Helps not to lose the drift and straightening. Aero: Does not play much of a role in drifting. If you have aero tuning unlocked, increasing front downforce can help you out. Damping: Rebound stifness is often good as it is. Drop bump stifness to about 50% of your rebound for front and rear. Springs: Try not to change front. Decrease rear a bit for more grip if needed. Ride Height - Slam it Antiroll Bars: Front - Try not to mess with it. Rear - Decreasing can help a lot especially for high power builds. Increasing the rear can help you brake out on lower power builds. Alingment: Camber - Front always maximum negative camber. Rear between 1 and 1.5 negative camber. Toe - Toe out for the front gives you more steering angle, you can play around with it. Recommended to start with 2.0 out. Rear Toe - Out gives you wider corner trijectory and give you more angle. In makes your drifting more tighter and more controll. Reccomended for begginers to push rear toe in a little bit, later start pushing out. (aroud 1.0) Gearing - Low power builds should not touch that much. High - Mid power builds - Find good drift gears (usually 3rd and 4th). Lower them accordingly, if you are banging the rev limiter it needs to be higher, if you cant stay in your rev range and you have to downshift then lower it. Adjust 5th and 6th to your ''main'' gears. Tires - Front should stay around 30 psi. Rear - lower pressures are grippier and smoother, higher pressures lose grip more suddenly and not much drift girp. Low power build shoud stay around stock rear psi High - mid power builds should lower psi (around 20)

This is a certified hood classic. This was very much needed. Bless you Hoki Also for tire width indo the 3,6,9 method for more grip, less slide. 0-300 HP = +1 tire width from stock 301-600 = +2 tire width from stock 601-900+ = +3 tire width from stock 901+ = Max tire width With Torque, I do the 4, 8, 12 method. Same as the 3,6,9, but with the combination, you can select in between widths.

Tip: just like in initial D, that car actually excels at 4 wheel drifting rather than traditional drifting, and 4 wheel drifting is the fastest way around a corner. Near full throttle and just about no countersteer. Lots of people don’t understand that so most tunes for the 86 aren’t built very well, I built my own back in FH4 and it did incredibly well, working on rebuilding it and perfecting it in FH5

I've been drifting in Forza since FM4 so I've never needed a guide but now I'm curious what other skilled players are doing so here I am. Couple notes after watching I've ran rear toe in and front toe out since Horizon 4 since I learned a few years back that FD cars do that in real life, and I liked how it felt in game. My one take away as a veteran Forza drifter is I need to play with my tunes more, I have a formula that works for 90% of my builds but cars feel more gripped up in FH5 so a few need less grip which I haven't fine tuned yet.

The points arent necessarily what this video is talking about. If you want most points you for sure want a super powerful fast car, this is more realistic and style based

Yeah I think I know what your issue was. In this game, tandem/realistic drifting is a different than drifting for high scores. For high score drifting runs don't be surprised to see 1500+ hp AWD cars sliding around at 90mph while perpendicular to the road.

Drifting is so much fun in this version! On a side note, while we're all obviously in love with FH5, either Hoki or anyone else play Absolute Drift? It's a weird top down drifting game from a few years back with GREAT driving feel though. I feel like that game taught me so much about drifting that has translated well to FH5
@eurosonly2 жыл бұрын
I go soft in everything as I just like the feeling of riding on a cloud. It also helps control the car more but makes it less responsive on tighter tracks. I'm really enjoying the formula drift c6 corvette in Fh4 and Fh5. It's an easy high powered car to get I to drifting with. I find the viper to be the opposite of it. Loads of grip but still an slide. If you don't have the money to buy it in Fh5, I'd recommend any related car with a v8 engine as they are very good on torque out of the box and can hold good slides on smaller courses without spinning out. I don't know what the devs did with Fh5 but rotary engines and rally cars in general just stall for me. I have to clutch kick the crap out of them whereas in the last game, it was the opposite.

Great video man, you go indepth but still kept it simple and easy to understand. I'm a old school Forza player. First one I played was fm2 Started tuning and drifting my own cars in fm4. I was pretty good at it in fm4 but I find my same tuning techniques have never worked in horizon, they never stay sideways. Your techniques are quite different and I'm assuming it's the due to the physics engine. Thanks for opening my eyes to some of the other ways to tune. I was sick of converting weight ratios just to have the car suck anyways. Hopefully this makes my tunes better which I'm sure it will

glad i looked this up. i dont know how good ill aim to become, but at least i now know why im having difficulty, playing on auto shift, with those high power formula drift cars. i look like im super drunk when 'drifting' xD i did manage to clear some arcade stages and get a couple 2 and 3 star drift zones, but its definitely frustrating at times and i cant even take the car around a full corner. seeing you drift around a full track just made my jaw drop. and this also gives me the tools to pick a car i like and make that a drifter - im not a fan of all those sponsor stickers and such on cars, like the formula drift ones have. Its ugly :/
@halfblue26782 жыл бұрын
This guide is better structured than the one for FH4. It gave some necessary pointers like which tunes should be considered to be tweaked for increasing/decreasing grip. And easier to follow. The FH4 guide needs a formula that is in a different video and unfortunately you really need to look for because it wasn't shown in the drift guide itself.

My main problem with drifting is staying on the road. Sometimes ill be going around a corner, and my car will go off into the grass even when im not giving it alot of throttle. I dont know if thats just how some of the drift builds are, or if im just still giving it too much gas. And when i started drifting, i was still using cars that were 1000+ hp, and it felt just fine to me.

11:56 I'd describe countersteering as looking in the direction of your cars inertia and apply just enough steering that your car keeps vectoring towards the direction of where you wanna go. There's nothing mystic about how much to apply, just keep your eyes pointed in the direction you wanna go and smoothly steer in the opposite direction of any percieved understeer/oversteer. Regardless of skillevel I'd recommend Driftcam at 100%, low caster , simulation steering and as little deadzone as your controller allows for. Not having the maximum accuracy and responsiveness in your control inputs will only serve to make things more difficult to control. Personally I would not do well drifting a purposebuilt car in 3rd person with a coaxial locked camera as depicted here, where as 3starring all them driftzones in 1st person (with driftcam) driving my A class 90's NSX built for grip/racing is rather trivial. It's all about being able to see exactly where you're going and at what angle.
