In this video we show you how to drill a hole into granite countertops so you can use a Tapcon anchor screw to fasten the cabinet panel to the side of the granite countertop.
How to drill into granite stone
We'll show you which granite drilling tools, and which granite drill bit you'll need. Making your granite drill hole will be impossible without the correct drill bit. A regular drill bit will not drill through granite, nor will a cement and brick drill bit, you must use a specific Tile & Stone drill bit, and make sure the package specifically states that it will drill through granite countertops.
How to drill hole in granite
Using the hole saw, place the drill perpendicular to the surface and start drilling in granite slowly. After speeding up as the hole progresses, keep it straight and clean. After you make the granite drill hole with your granite drill bit, then you can secure the Tapcon masonry anchor screw into place. That's how to drill holes in granite.

Drill through granite countertop
Drilling through granite countertops with small holes takes about 5 minutes per drill hole. We like to use the Milwaukee Hole Saw to drill holes in granite countertops, it is a 3/16" diamond hole saw. This type of granite hole saw is one of your most powerful granite drilling tools, allows you to drill into granite countertops.

When I do jobs like this, I generally drill a bigger hole than I need and epoxy a dowel in, then use a wood screw. The dowel can be repaired forever with toothpicks or easily drilled out and replaced.

Wow, now you are really talking about getting esoteric, you need a specialized bit from Bosch called HDG418 4-1/8 In. Diamond Hole Saw amzn.to/2YNTjoA Not everyone cuts holes that big which is why it's $62, but it could be useful for tile holes around pipes, etc. also.

@@jeffostroff Sorry I don't want to be negative about the work but I have to agree with most comments here. You did emphasize use of hammer mode and I did see it was on drill/screw mode so I was thinking, why did he say use hammer mode. The caulk job was not good either. I think you should look at the video before replying like you are because in the video I saw a bad caulk line. It looked all broken up. In the video you say it is perfect. Yet it is all broken up and uneven.

Hey Belly Ache, can't you tell the difference? I was using my hammer drill in drill/driver mode, not inn hammer drill mode. IT should be more than obvious because nice and close up views show it set to drill mode, not hammer mode.

jeffostroff that is not the point. If you want more subscribers, you need to prepare your videos in a certain way. The proven method is to keep them no longer than 10 mins and make multiple parts. If you don’t want more subscribers, what is the point of these videos?
@jeffostroff
@jeffostroff 5 жыл бұрын
@@ot9180 The purpose of the videos is to give DIY people a masterclass how to complete the task with as much information as possible. Sometimes more than 10 minutes is needed, sometimes less. There are tons of major KZbin channels with flooring videos that are over an hour for example to install a wood floor, or 2 hours to remodel a kitchen. You better go hunt them down and let them know. Instead of whining about it, just skip the video ahead 30 seconds at a time, that's hw I watch a majority of videos.

@jeffostroff
@jeffostroff 5 жыл бұрын
I was correcting my mistake, not the too's mistake. Sometimes once you've tooled it down, you can give it a quick touch up with your finger if you don't force it concave, just to make the silicone spread into a spot that you miss. But I always make a few passes with the tool to make sure it is really clean and has sharp edges in the silicone.

I wouldnt fix that cabinet to the granite with a screw.. In future if anyone pulls the cabinet, and the screw with it, they could shatter the granite. If you want to secure the cabinet to the granite use silicon .

LOL, The job didn't look good because you don't know what a good job looks like, nor do you know the correct way to tool caulk. NEVER use your finger to tool caulk. Always use the tool for the correct profile. The concave shape of your finger is not the correct shaped profile. It gets dirty over time because it traps dirt.

@@jeffostroff Sor;ry, it just dont look like a pro job. Erratic caulk, made in Germany dont matter, it is the person who knows how to do it properly, this is the wrong concept, people thought if they have a name brand tools they thought they are good, you have to have a good analysis on what you want to accomplished to get good results, not a brand name tool, that is fake and pretentious. An example a stupid guy wants to use a test prod that is worth $30. bucks because it is expensive and people who see them will think he know what the fuck he's doing....any $2.00 test prod will give the same result reading of a $30. piece of wire...idiot.
