Fantastic car! Model T's were designed to be maintained at home, many owners lived far from a garage. There are KZbin videos showing how to replace the three clutch bands yourself. I hope its still rolling in another hundred years!!
@blackbirdpie2176 жыл бұрын
I would normally drive it with the brake lever all the way forward and use my left foot on the clutch pedal, so when I stop I don't have to reach for the lever I just put the pedal half way down with my left foot, at the same time use my right foot on the brake. If I wanted to stay stopped idling for a while just pull the brake lever half way back. But you do need to keep the linkage to the clutch adjusted out a little so neutral is from the middle and when the brake is all the way back. It seems complex and it is but like anything else with practice it's second nature.

Wow...that is MAJOR 😎 cool!! I knew they were different, but I'd say it takes more than a little practice and patience before you hit the open road. A large 🚜 barnyard is a perfect playground, so if you do something wrong...no harm no foul. Good idea to mark everything for reference. Thanx for sharing, I am definitely filing this video for the future. ✌😊

An electric fuel pump on a T? More likely you’re hearing the exciter coils (the buzz box) for the ignition system.
@bcgrittner5 жыл бұрын
@Rolf Jander Indeed. No water pump, either. Henry Ford was not a big fan of pumps of any kind. Let gravity and hot water rises do all the work

I never seen a model t with a second shifterare they easier to drive than a model a since they're only technically to gears and you don't have to worry about synchronization and non synchronization from what I take it

The T has a planetary transmission. Your A has a more conventional transmission. Hence the difference on the controls.
@ChiDraconis4 жыл бұрын
@@bcgrittner That is what I saw on another channel; Seems the planetary spur mount triad is brought to a stop with a brake band; This acts in reduction; I am told it will not pull without it

Can you drive a Model-T if you're physically handicapped?
@brandonscherff93446 жыл бұрын
Marvin the Maniac , depends, you really need two feet for the pedals sometimes. , although maybe you could get around that by using the handbrake lever to put it in neutral whenever you brake. My dad didn’t have use of his left foot when driving, so he could not have driven one of these, his license was restricted to automatics only.

@garysauter79972 жыл бұрын
Model T's don't have a true neutral. It's a planetary system. Much of the info on this video is solid. However, there's a few things I don't agree with. However, it's enough info here to get things rolling. Overall, decent video.

When did cars get the modern throttle, brake and clutch pedal system? This T looks like something from 1890s. No wonder Ford lost market share to GM.
@Th3Sabator456 жыл бұрын
Ford was really the only one sticking to this way. By the 20s there was the regular clutch and pedals. Ford still stuck with the spark advance and the throttle on the steering colum for the model A which was the late 20s

I thought I could drive one of these once. Only difference is it was a 1927 Model. The clown that let me drive it restored old cars. I didn't get 150 feet down the road when I ran it in the ditch trying to shift gears. I tore the front end all to hell, punctured the radiator, knocked the head lights clean off, and broke the windshield. By the way the windshield broke out in shards I could have got cut to bits. steam and antifreeze was shooting up in the air just like in the movies. The car owner came out yelling at me, said I just cost him about $20,000. I just said you should not have let me drive it then. I called my wife and she gave me a ride home. I never felt obligated in anyway. It was his dumb ass fault for letting me drive it with no training to start with.
@39ctg6 жыл бұрын
you make me sick. Your'e really going to sit here on youtube blaming the owner of that poor car you destroyed and without taking any responsibility whatsoever. How can you have so much ignorance.
