I just bought a used 2022 CRV Hybrid last week, after owning 4 different Toyota Hybrids over the last 15 years (2 Prius sedans, a Prius V wagon + a Highlander). I was going to buy the RAV4 AWD, but after driving both broke my loyalty and switched to Honda! I agree with you, it is a little roomier + I also felt it has a better price point; however, I really found it to drive smoother and that was my final reason for switching! I also keep that same screen on the dash while driving + I average 38 mpg. Nice video and good tips!~Lisa

Thank you for your own in-depth response. I am averaging 35 mpg even with using heat. I have a found (for myself) that button driving helps me get max miles per gallon.

I have the 2023 accord EXL hybrid and use the Econ mode 100% of the time and get 48-49 MPG in the city.

WOW! Thanks for the tip. I'll have to try that.

Can really a non-hybrid get such an MPG in the city?! Then what's the point for Honda in producing hybrids...

That horizontal bar that you are referring to is the instantaneous fuel consumption. Yup, it's a nice tool to guide you on how to drive economically. Actually it's also applicable to non-hybrid CRV's

I’m curious what your daily driving is like to get the mpg you’re getting. Do you primarily have a commute in the city or is it mixed on the highway or are you taking long trips? (Well I guess not long trips cause it looked like your odometer said 261 so still very new). I’m wondering what your average is at now? I live in Seattle, and I’m hoping that this hybrid will get great mileage for my daily driving.

I am very lucky. I only have a 15 minute commute to work on back roads that are 35 mph. I do a few highway drives per year. But not many, to be honest. I am finding during the winter I average 32 mpg, and the summer 35. One thing to keep in mind is that I never reset my odometer, so this is now an average over two years of having the car. I never used to use cruise control, but allowing the car to drive more often (with my hands still on the wheel, of course!) gets me better mileage. I’m not sure how people are getting like 50 mpg? 🤔

Silver - I am finding they the miles per gallon goes down during the winter and has almost become like an average CRV in regard to gas mileage, but i swear I don’t have to fill up as often

The hybrid does not have a spare tire. No big issue? At around 3000 miles, I dropped off boxes at Goodwill and picked up a furniture nail in the right front tire. I then discovered that there are not tire tools in the car. I borrowed my girlfriend's spare and tools and took the flat in to a shop for fixing. Later I ended up buying a spare tire and it sits on the back area. I don't think I would like to have a flat tire in the boonies.

So sorry to hear that. Yes, that is one major draw back.

for me it's close being deal breaker

Fix a flat (and other kinds of tire additives that prevent minor punctures) would be beneficial for vehicles without spare tires.

How’s the Honda CRV at the drive-in. Come on good buddy

I abuse the EV button and get close to 50 MPG driving around the city.

Oh...you should ALWAYS drive in econ mode. Sporty means youre wasting gas because youre impatient.

What is the point to get a new car with better MPG and start to driving more efficiently.... you could have done same with your older car that wasn't Hybrid. Very disappointed..... I got 2023 Honda CRV Sports Touring. And I got a sports trim for a reason so I can have more power and more torque.. so I can drive sporty and still having a good MPG but since I got it months ago I cannot pass 30mpg.... very disappointed I was looking to get 40 MPG.

To be honest, I am in the same boat as you a bit. As winter came, I keep seeing my MPG drop. It was 36 MPG in the summer, and now it is 31.5

I'm hitting 36 MPG on my 2023. do you drive up steep hills? colder area?
@jenniferengel913 Жыл бұрын
@@DrHondaCRV Once winter hit, my MPG defiantly went down. I am hoping to watch it climb back up once spring and summer come along again.

@Jennifer Engel Cold weather has a detrimental effect on hybrid batteries. This is why the fuel economy in your hybrid drops in the winter. So, your hybrid uses the internal combustion engine more frequently (and thus, less MPG). Pure EV (ie, Tesla) driving ranges also decline significantly in winter months.

My experience too. I bought my crv hybrid in January and was soooo upset to only get 30 mpg at best. I read alot about it online. But sure enough, it's around 40 now that summer is here. It's hard to adjust my expectations cuz good mpg is the main reason I bought this car.

Hang on, hang on... you put the car in reverse and it goes backwards? Mind blown.
