Shakedown is my favorite part of DRIVE. Let the haters hate. Those of us who recognize and appreciate what Leo does, enjoy it thoroughly. Great stuff.

i can honestly say i'm a racing fan, not the type that pays attention to the names, faces or stats not because i don't want to but simply because i don't as much as i respect that aspect of the sport. what i love about racing is this the incredible driving skill and the thought that goes into making a car go fast. my friends think we're a simpleton group but we know better. thanks for this awesome video

Thanks Leo. I met you at RA last fall and forgot to tell you just how much a fan I am. I am running Sebring with Chin next weekend and combining a trip to mom. I too will be watching again and again to get ready for my first time at Sebring with track prepped Boxster S. Let this count as 100 watches for appreciating the lack of burning rubber in the corners, but instead collecting marbles from repetitive fast, clean laps. Please keep doing what you're doing.

Hold your line, stay light touch on the wheel, keep looking where you want YOUR car to be heading. If car beside, see prior sentence. If car ahead, look through, don't get sucked into driving their line OR missing your reference points. If car behind, take the mirror glance before the corner brake point, then just drive YOUR car.

Great show Leo! The quick, snappy delivery in a nice change from the slow nature of modern reporting. Keep posting videos and we'll all keep watching.... Oh, and how about a show to point out the difference between race car and road car characteristics for trackday junkies?

Leo, Awesome video. I love the in car views and being able to see the driver inputs as he reacts to the bumps. It would complete the package if you could get a pedal camera, so we could also see the heel-toe action as the drivers are maneuvering these tricky corners.

On the in-car of Madison Snow, because he popped out and thought about passing on the inside going into turn 17 we missed seeing the true race line and braking points going into into 17… a very thrilling experience the first time you do it and get it right. search for a vim video of a really great lap of Sebring with Skip Barber Instructor Terry Earwood. I watched this every day the entire two weeks leading up to my first track day at Sebring.
@slicksidviscousCH12 жыл бұрын
Sebring is a fun track, the bumps in 17 can be fun, but after 12 hours of it probably not so much. And like many tracks, when you get a corner right it feels amazing and you know it immediately. Turn 17 to Turn 1 are my two favorite places on the Sebring track when I get them right.

Taking turn three in a Cup car is a lot different than in an ALMS prototype. To start the car Allan McNish drives has a lot more down force. but the main thing is that the engine is in the back in the cup car. Makes for a different kind of driving through that corner.

+1 for amazing content. wish it didn't cut abruptly. I hope Leo does this for every track on ALMS. Only criticism is that someone should tell him to sit on his hands while he talks, he looks like he is trying to "sign" what he is saying because he moves his hands so much.

+ For anyone out there really interested in doing track days, but may not have the budget right now. I strongly recommend seeking out your local autocross club (check scca) IMO it is a great step to prepare yourself for the move up to driving road courses. Everything you've seen on shakedown university can be applied to autocrossing and everything you learn in autocrossing can be translated to driving a road course.

Madison Snow is NOT who I would use as a reference for how to drive Sebring. He turns in way too early on most of the corners and gives up a lot of exit speed in return. 16 was the only one in this video that looked right to me... and then he wussed out into 17. Alan is a much better reference, and his advice is the one that I use for my line at Sebring.
@elemento19915 жыл бұрын
Agreed. I'm far from an expert but I can see he's sacrificing some time. He's hitting his apex and still trail braking/maintenance throttling deeper into the corner. If his line was correct he would be rolling on the throttle at the apex point IMO.

Actually, I didn't watch either of their shows yet. I find Chris's show bland and boring (but the cars are great). Alex is a great guy and I prefer his more. But you're a racer at heart and get more technical and in depth about racing and the sport, which I like the most. Keep it up buddy, you might not have the view count, but you definitely have the most interesting content!
