50 year old junglist here. It's great to see that our music is in good hands and I'm truly blown away by the enthusiasm and skills of all the young producers coming out! You guys have inspired me to have a go at making my own tunes - I've a LONGGG way to go thanks to content creators like yourself, its helping to make the process a lot easier. Keep up the great work and best of luck for the future! Big up! 😎

Broseph I’m from the U.S. and I see exactly what you are talking about. Especially when he got to talking about liquid. I think this cat is more of a brostep producer in general. I dig it that he is sharing knowledge but yeah there is definitely some cringe worthy shit in here and I’m only 40 seconds into the video.

I can't escape the thought that the spirit of drum and bass pretty much died somewhere around 2010 and everything new that came out after that sounds exactly like what you made in this video. No offense intended, there obviously is a big market for it, but I feel inclined to refer you to the early 2000's work coming from Australia. Here are a few examples of some oldschool heavy bassy stuff, often referred to as Dark DnB, TechStep and NeuroFunk: Overcast - Gorky Parked Paul Blackout - Legions Of The Dead Epsilon - No Try And my personal favourite out of the US, from the same era: Technical Itch - The Legend (Evol Intent rmx) You just don't hear stuff like those anymore, despite the fact that these tracks still share similarities in song structure to the more recent dnb, but I feel they are more coherent because all of them have a background soundscape that generally lacks from modern electronic music, which I consider essential in any substyle of drum and bass. But then again, that's just my opinion. Can't argue over personal taste!
@TorontoPopulistConservative
@TorontoPopulistConservative 17 күн бұрын
The craziest thing about dnb production is that widening techniques like unison and others are so heavily used while the music is majorly played on mono systems. It's so common to become satisfied with a sound having built so much character through widening techniques and then flip the mono switch and it just loses everything.

Do you have some kind of phat rack on these sounds? Just the basic serum patch sounds so much harder than mine... Also i don't get why you selected these prizes for the competition. The winner will most likely be someone that made a song that sounds GOOD, right? Meaning that they already must own banging hardware, like a pair of speakers that they know well. And they most likely have a music production laptop / pc. Why would you give these prizes to the winner and not to someone who didn't win? They need it so much more than the winners. I wouldn't want these prizes even if i won, or i would sell them. I already have my favourite set of (more expensive) speakers and my pc i do stuff on. There is so many aspiring musicians out there that need these prizes so much more than the winner... Or am i missing something here?
