How to dry a wool blanket

This is what knitters to do wash, dry and 'block' a blanket after it's knitted, as edges come out wonky when hand knitted and treating a newly knitted blanket like this always helps neaten up the edges. Lovely to-the-point-video thank you 😉

Hi! Thank you for the video. I’m wondering, I have an amazing wool blanket I just had to wash.I live in a fairly restricted space with a wood stove in the house. It’s raining and cold out. Is it ok to dry the blanket inside while the wood stove is going?

The "blanket" used in the video is miniscule. I have a queen sized Hudson Bay wool blanket. I wonder what would happen if I just put it in the washing machine if it fits and use a cold water delicate wash?

I would take it to a laundered and use an industrial sized machine x

I hand knit a king-sized wool blanket. The thing is HUGE. I actually wouldn't mind if it shrunk a bit. It's a gift for my daughter so I want to wash it before sending it to her. I'm dreading having to handle this massive thing. I will have to fold it in fourths to fit over the indoor drying rack. Would it be okay to put it in the dryer on the Air Dry (no heat) cycle?

A huge handmade blanket sounds great to us! I would probably recommend that you contact the yarn supplier to see if they have guidance on washing and drying items knitted with their wools. Generally speaking, we would only recommend line drying for any wool product, never tumble drying.

My nanny put my favorite baby blanket in the tumbler dryer. It did shrink in evenly but lost its fluffy ness. Can I re wet it and how can I relax it back into shape ?

I really need some help I found a beautiful white woolen blanket I did machine wash it in I did line dry it but the blanket is used to be I need some restore the softness any help would be greatly appreciated us have woolen fringe

We don't recommend using fabric softeners when washing wool blankets because they tend to leave a residue behind which can exacerbate felting. Instead, we would suggest restoring the softness of a line dried wool blanket simply through enjoyment and use! As you use your blanket again after washing, the fibres will relax and become more flexible again. Hope this helps. The British Blanket Company
