Thank you so much! Honestly I hated doing them at first and got terrified during speech in college. The difference is now I have no idea what I am going to say before the moment it comes out of my mouth, so there is no stress in remembering 😂 and thank you for your kind words of encouragement, it truly means a lot!

Now I want the gold lighter so Im going over it again. I cant believe how little paint it took, thanks fir sharing. I want to do my crown molding and mitchen cupboards. So happy I could help! As the years have went on since this video I have found it also works great with a round paint brush too (like the Annie Sloan ones) goal is just small amounts of paint and high areas 😘

I am doing a fairly large Halloween prop of which I intend on utilizing the dry brush technique to highlight the raised surfaces. My question is on the raised surfaces should I utilize mainly horizontal brush strokes in order not to get the prop looking as thou it was painted.
@OriginallyWorn5 жыл бұрын
George Seward hey! The best way to get the effect I believe you are looking for is to use a round natural bristle brush. (I love Annie Sloan’s) using that brush but the technique in this video will really give an all over haze without a distinct direction.

Hi. I have some white fencing that I'm going to put around the perimeter of my yard for Halloween and want to make it look weathered. Could I use this technique with a darker color, maybe grey? Would the dark on light look as good? Thanks!
@OriginallyWorn5 жыл бұрын
1962Aero hey! Oh yes, you can totally do this!! And you could do it in layers of colors to really make it look old.
@1962Aero5 жыл бұрын
@@OriginallyWorn Thanks. What colors do you suggest? My Halloween displays usually consist of pumpkins, ghosts and skeletons, a graveyard. Spooky but not scary.
@OriginallyWorn5 жыл бұрын
1962Aero oh your white fence, I would suggest grey, black & maybe a bit of olive green :)

when you say it had a color wash, what is that? I've got a cabinet piece that doesn't have a lot of detail that I would like to make it look distressed. This technique seems to be the answer but I have no experience so I'm a little lost with terms. I have a dark grey that I'd plan to apply first then top with a lighter grey. Is this the path I should proceed with? Also should I use chalk paint or flat paint?
@OriginallyWorn4 жыл бұрын
cindy majewski hey! It looks like you found the color wash video so I will skip that part :) but that sounds like a good path and I use Annie Sloan Chalk Paint
@RimRunnerClub4 жыл бұрын
Can you do this technique on wood that has clear wax?
@OriginallyWorn4 жыл бұрын
You bet! my favorite is to take raw pine wood, dark wax it, then dry brush with old white. (When doing that combo I do like to give the dark wax a day or two to cure up)
@kelly41785 жыл бұрын
I have a problem at times getting too much paint but will try to stick to this method. All of the videos I watch have light color paint dry brushing over darker paint. Does the opposite work or is it better to use the wax for such cases?
@OriginallyWorn5 жыл бұрын
Kelly Neubecker Hopefully this helps! And you can totally do it with a darker color over a lighter color, looks different than wax. And I have done it countless times. :)
@dorothybahmuller443 жыл бұрын
Do you have to brush in the same direction?
@OriginallyWorn3 жыл бұрын
no, you can if you want but you don't have to. Small amount of paint is the biggest issue to remember
@amulz7894 жыл бұрын
What is he difference with dry brushing and white wax
@OriginallyWorn4 жыл бұрын
amulz miller Dry brushing gives distinct lines, whereas white wax would give like a haze or a wash of white all over

I’ve made some boo boos. How would I fix them? You can see where I put my brush down. From far away, you can see spots. Dark dry brush over it?
