Do you cut flowers from stem as soon as they bloom?
@jazzybutterflygarden2 жыл бұрын
Great question! The hibiscus flowers only last a day. Although new hybrids last longer than the older varieties. In most case the hibiscus flower opens in the early morning and then wilt by the evening. Remove the spent flowers as they finish blooming. The hibiscus looks more attractive when the wilted blooms have been removed.

Thank you for the wonderful video. Do you know if anything can be used as a substitute for the Cuisinart? Like maybe the oven, or a small toaster oven or something?
@jazzybutterflygarden2 жыл бұрын
Before I purchased my Cuisinart I definitely use my oven at its lowest temperature; which is 200°F it takes a little longer, but it work. Each oven may vary in temperature so you may have to test it out before you get the correct setting. I tray my blooms on a nonstick cookie sheet. 🦋

My dehydrator is due to arrive today! I'm searching out the items I want to have in my pantry and I found this channel. What I've been doing for a while now is laying my items on a tea towel, covering with another one, and laying them on my heating pad (when it's not on my back!).🙂 I also use this for my yogurt, covering the tops with nylon stockings, wrapping a folded bath towel to conserve the warmth. My heating pad has a shut off time of two hours. By the end of the day it's ready to be refrigerated. As an addition, I put a coffee filter inside a nylon mesh strainer over a deep bowl, cover that with another coffee filter, place a cottage cheese lid on top of that, weight that down with a bowl of water, and refrigerate. Initially, a lot of whey will come out that can be re-used in many ways. Now I have Greek Style yogurt. Continue that until ALL of the moisture is out and I now have Cream Cheese. Thank you for your presentation. Now I need to ask if my neighbors put pesticides on the hybiscus plants. God bless you for sharing! 🙏

Can the petals be dried naturally after they've been washed? Perhaps on a wire rack in doors or daily in the sun? I live in the tropics. Also, does the color matter?

How long can it stay Dry
@jazzybutterflygarden2 жыл бұрын
So most of my hibiscus that I dried was good for the whole season. It took me through the winter months, and most of the spring season and by the way, I don’t drink tea every morning but I do have a hot beverage. So if completely dehydrated, and stored in an airtight container you shouldn’t have any problems with it going bad. 🦋
