For those who boot straight into windows you guys need to set kali first in the boot priority in the bios and grub will load so you can choose to boot into windows or linux

Thank you so much! I was scared I couldn't do it but in the end it all went perfect, except a little thing, after finishing the installation it didn't load in the grub loader but instead on windows. I managed to get it right by rebooting, entering bios and from the boot option there was a "", I assumed it could've been it and selected it. It was the grub loader and I got right into Debian! Really nice video!

I chose to install GNOME DE instead of KDE. I have 2 options GNOME and GNOME-Classic. When I check in settings, both of those are apparently using X11 but I'm having some screen flickering after I installed Nvidia drivers... Can someone help me?

Good and practical instructions. About Secure Boot being enable or disabled in Windows 11, here is an information I read from a Microsoft guy - "While Windows 11 does require a TPM, the "Secure Boot" requirement is that your hardware has to be capable of supporting Secure Boot. It can be disabled on Windows 11 PCs if you have TPM 2.0". Some sites say that disabling Secure Boot in Windows 11 may cause you to stop receiving windows updates, but I think it is just some guy guessing. You should also have mentioned that nvidia drivers is only to be installed for computers with a Nvidia graphics card. Mine is Intel not Nvidia.

I used balena etcher to install debian on an old PC I bought in 2012. I used a $6 usb 32 gb drive that I bought at Walmart. Since the PC was super old and couldn’t run Windows anymore I installed it as the only operating system. If I buy a new laptop I will probably come back to this video to set up a proper dual boot system.

Wayland gave me serious problems on a Pinebook pro. It updated everything to use Wayland and then refused to boot the desktop environment. X11 has been around since the 1980s and works fine so don’t change to Wayland if you can help it or you may have an unusable PC or at least have to reinstall everything.

Thank you for this great guide. If I want unstable version, should I install base system and then install unstable version, or can I do it without installing base? I know there is an ISO file that can be used, but it requires advanced installation and I'm not sure if it will work with other systems on different drives. Also, will it work if I add another system, such as Arch, on a separate drive(each system on it's own drive)? Thank you very much.

hey ksk, what's the differnce between the netinstaller(700 - 800 MB) and Debian "DVD images via HTTP/FTP"(about 4.7 gb) what should I prefer?

Net installer is very less in Size, Cause it requires internet connection to download Desktop environment and other packages to properly configure the system, DVD is like a bundle with all packages that doesn't require internet To download anything. Anything should work fine. If you have strong internet choose the net installer other wise stick to latter.

About the nvidia card... i have an intel KF processor, which means it doesn´t have an integrated graphics card. The Nvidia discrete (dedicated) GPU is the only graphics card in the system. Will Debian at recognize the GC even before installing the Nvidia kernel? Don´t want to install and boot into Debian just to find out i can´t see what i´m doing xD Thanks

Thank you for another good video. Is the process of removing the Debian system the same on Windows 10? I remember using some third-party software to 'reset' the Win 10 boot partition (wiping out all Linux stuff). Are the steps similar if changing Debian for Ubuntu? Thanks and take care.

If your windows 10 is booted in UEFI mode with GPT partition, the deletion process of debian Is same mentioned in the video. Check the BIOS Mode type *msinfo32* inside command prompt , you will see BIOS MODE. If it says Legacy, do not use the deletion method mentioned in this video, use EASY BCD tool.

It will install the grub boot loader automatically in the default EFI partition of windows 11.

For that we need to create a separate EFI partition for debian using the manual partitioning method during the debian installation. In this video I used WINDOWS EFI partition that is of 100MB SIZE which can be increased further.

Hey man I followed the video and installed Debian on an empty external hard drive but every time I try to boot it just gives me a black screen. I can boot into windows by going to bios but when I select Debian to boot into it never starts up grub at all. Just a boot loop. I have Nvidia RTX 2070 how can I load up grub ?

I was able to dual boot so I wanted to try it on my PC but I think maybe my hardware is getting in the way or something.

1) If you have NVIDIA GPU then install them. 2) The default grub timeout limit is 5 seconds. For beginners it would be easy for them if grub timeout is increased.

These issues are common and related to ACPI .. Tell me one thing, Are you able to boot into Kali linux ? If so, when you black screen, force reboot the computer using physical keys.

@@kskroyaltech I solved it by going back to an older kernel. Responding to your question yes I was able to boot into debian but, when I tried to turn it off it just hung in there showing a black screen with system messages on it.

@@mykhalex yeah i got a motherboard that wasnt a dell piece of trash. Also using a separate hard drive and going into the uefi to select debian. My new asus motherboard can easily detect it on a separate drive and boot directly into it.
