great stuff! Lately I've been playing around with a simple parametric eq centered on an average-ish frequency of the person speaking, so it works a lot like the LPF, but retains some of the higher frequencies the voice doesn't get to.

Can I add another tip? With a background in radio broadcasting I use the audio mixer to accomplish an automatic "ducking" effect: just set your music channel(s) to -21 dB (always use numbers in the table of 3 when working with decibells) and put a multiband compressor set to Broadcast on your master channel. It doesn't duck the music, it does the opposite: it boosts the music when there's no talking. It makes life so much earies for me!

Low Pass filter is a cool option! It never occurred to me to try that
@grimsleyreaper3 жыл бұрын
Great video, man! Another option: Instead of a low-pass filter, scoop (remove/lower) the mids only. Your voice still comes through but the music loses that underwater effect as some of the high-end is still there. Voices exist in the mids anyway so you create a nice space for it without sacrificing the actual intention of the music.
@JavierMercedes3 жыл бұрын
Awesome tip and makes so much sense, I’ll have to try it out!

Love this tutorial. I knew about the first two methods before. I make use of the 2nd method because its easier than the first in my opinion. But that 3rd method is legendary. Just learning about it for the first time today and I see myself trying it out in the future. Thanks for this nice tutorial.
@andyony22 жыл бұрын
Thank you, Javier :) 1 Note to using "Low Pass" Filter. I dont like it the way, you showed it, because if I see it correctly, you have to manually do the keyframes, again, right? The great advantage of step 3 is the automatic feature! So I am thinking about a better way of combining them: What I often do is that I use 2 seperate versions of the tracks underneath each other. Then I automatically duck the first track by so much, that the second version is more audible. Then you can apply all the effects you need to the second track and it will be audible :)
@LifeofPal3 жыл бұрын
I think making cuts and adjusting volume level is more perfect than inbuilt ducking feature. Gonna try this.
