Thanks for the great video! I did it to my son's head. The glue was a PITA to get off. I had to keep puting it back in the freezer and when my fingernails hurt too bad, I used needle nose pliers for a while.
@redstarlacrosse12 жыл бұрын
I would probably pinch first. Either way though, the re-boil could mess things up. Re-boiling a pinched head to dye could change the pinch you gave it, or, re-boiling a dyed head to pinch it could change the dye. I've never done it, but I would rather re-pinch than re-dye, so I would pinch first.

If the water is too hot, and the glue melts, it will make that part of the head kind of smeary looking, but if the water isn't hot enough then the dye won't reach it's full potential color (like a black might come out purpleish). It can be kind of tricky. Best to try on an older head first to kind of figure out what works.

Dude, that looks so awesome. I wanna do that with my stick, but with my school colors, red and white. My Stx Proton is already white so im thinking like red sploteges like you did.
@redstarlacrosse11 жыл бұрын
If you're using hot glue, make it hot, but not more that about 170 degrees, otherwise the glue will melt off. I buy my dye at a craft store, but you can get it online...search for RIT Dye. Use enough water to cover whatever you're dyeing, and use one package of dye. If you have some airtight containers, you can save the dye.

For a single dye, or fade right around boiling, maybe a little less. For hot glue, or electrical tape, let it cool down for a bit from a boil, otherwise the adhesive will melt. For hot glue, I do it at about 180, but you have to be careful of melting lue.

I honestly don't know what works with the chrome heads. I have never had one. I know people do dye them, and customize them in different ways...I just don't know how they do it. That being said, I am pretty sure if you do a dye over chipped chrome, it will come out differently where it's chromed, and where it's chipped. So...I would probably removed the chrome first.
@redstarlacrosse12 жыл бұрын
You can use electrical tape, vinyl stickers, or rubber cement too.

When you dye heads, you should buy a 2 gallon trash can (I got one at the dollar store) and put the boiling water in the trash can, and I found you don't have to use the entire bottle of rit dye, a bottle is 8 ounces so you only have to pour in half of the bottle, which is 4 ounces. You will save a lot of money and be able to get more uses out of one bottle

When i die my heads with hot glue, a tip to get the glue off easy without ruining your fingers is freeze it, then use needle nose pliers to pull the glue off.

dude that is sick. I tried doing it with red and it looked pretty cool. I couldn't get the glue off though. I stuck it in the freezer and it didn't work either. what els should I do?
@MrMxman2612 жыл бұрын
Start off with your white head dye it all red. take tape or glue what ever you prefer and put it on all the parts you want to keep red then after you tape or glue put your black dye in then dye the head all black... when you take off the tape or glue it will be red underneath where it was and you have a red and black stick! Hope I helped you
