Question: I learnt that men are the maintainers and protectors of women based on the verse in the Quran. So does seeking of sustenance apply to women the same way it does to men?

No doubt there are differences. As the shaykh began to note around the 8:20 mark, there are many ways that sisters can permissibly engage in business and they differ from the ways legislated for men. Not only that, but for a man it is obligatory to seek this rizq meanwhile a woman has that right from her husband. He owes her clothing and sustenance within reasonable means. I would recommend emailing the brothers at DUS da'wah for more detail. Their emails is in the descriptions of their KZbin vids including this one. Be patient as they're busy and may take some time to answer.

I just looked it up and the consensus is on that, if you didnt know the income or the money you have was Haram and you found out later, it's ok, you dont have to do anything, but if you knew you then have to give it away in charity, building a mosque, giving it in sadaqah etc, WAllah knows best.
