How to Earn Dark Side Points in SWTOR

Earning Dark Side points can be a bit difficult in Star Wars: The Old Republic - after a recent update to the game, the only way to get alignment points is to run missions that have a dark or light side decisions in them, or by running Diplomacy missions. It's super hard to get Dark Side points now, but very easy to get Light Side points. Not all Dark Side decisions are worth it or logical, and the same thing for Light Side points if your character has been done wrong.

I've never wanted to play a Dark Side character, but I do want to try out the Sith Assassin combat style on my Jedi Shadows (because I play solo so much, I rely on stealthing). I'm so glad to have found this video, and luckily I have a Jedi Knight who I don't use much but who has a crew, so lots of people to send on Diplomacy missions.

a full DS run of the story gets you about Dark III(on Jedi knight, at least), if all expansions are included, you'll be right at home. also, Darkside Republic are the best

If you just want to get Darkseid and still be light side choices it can be done relatively easy as long as you have diplomacy and only send companions on the dark side missions

its so stupid they removed LS/DS toogle button. i recall running cademimu HM FP ages ago because it was one of the few easy flashpoints with alignment choice just so i could swap alignment. when dvl arrived it was so refreshing and easier with the toggle button and now it got removed for no reason.

Doing my first run through of Swtor ever, used to play kotor and finally got into this game. My rule of thumb is if it sounds like I'm gonna be an asshole I select it, unless there's the flirt option, always flirt first.

You can also just hit a toggle in the menu to have the game show you the alignment of choices before they are made, which will differentiate between a choice just having a rude answer and actually being dark side.

Tbh the change they did with the dark side light side being as it was done in the new patch = stupid decision. Makes players who is "happy with being ds 5 and the crazy modification it gives to your apperance" "go out of their way" so to speak to keep it(no not really, but you have to watch your choices much more carefully etc(or pick up diplomacy..) Should have kept the old "ds/ls" system they had "commit" even if there was no "galactic impact on it". I do like that you showcase all of the quest that can give you "easy" earned allignment(even though I knew of most of theese, there was a few new to me). Sometimes change is good, and sometimes not so much ;)

Yep, the old system deciding to go DS or LS and then killing enemies, was a far easier way to get it done. I was a programmer for 30+ years of my life and we always said "never change a running system". Sometimes "improvements" are bad. Forcing me to play as devs or publisher want it, is not going to work. I'll skip all elements I don't like.

Bummer it's more difficult to get dark points now. I just picked up the game again after not playing for many years, and realized that I needed to get the legacy dark side stuff done, as I'd always played light side characters before. It's been a grind, and I'm only to level 3. I probably shouldn't have done this on a Jedi Knight, but I also needed to complete that class story and companion stuff. I didn't know about the diplomacy thing, so I may have to switch out a crew skill now. Edit: Using Diplomacy is OP! I was able to go from dark 3 to 5 in a day and have my legacy done.

you can actually just about reach dark V on a character by picking every dark choice in the class story, RotHC, SoR, KOTFE and KOTET, give or take a few hundred from things like FPs

Since you can get set alignment points regardless of what choices you pick, I advise players to start with LS option (not necessarily choices), then do DS once LS is max level. That way you get all the titles associated with the various levels, AND you still be able to enable DS corruption on your character if you desire. LS has no visuals similar to DS, so you lose nothing.

Companions are weaker, it's a bug. Tank companions are struggling to keep aggro etc.

Yes. The developers are working on adjusting it better. 7.0 changed a lot.

So I came back to the game after not playing since around Hutt Cartel. I have a Consular at lvl 11, who had just landed(I think) on Coruscant. She has Light Side 4, with 9k points and diplomacy is only at 5/600. Any idea how this is possible?

Light Side 4 but only level 11? Good question, no idea! Maybe you had reset your diplomacy at some point and started it over..? lol

@@Swtorista I'm pretty sure I only seriously leveled my main's crew skills. According to my achievements I only got Archaeology to 400 back in April 2013. Also the alignment achievements only have Dark 3 and Light 2 as obtained in April 2013. Dark 4-5 and Light 3-5 are also obtained, but from a couple weeks ago(when I came back). While my main, SI Assassin, my highest Dark Side character, is only Dark 3. The other highest Light side I have was a level 30 Guardian with Light 2. =/

How does that look to someone who is playing SWTOR for the first time in 7.0 or a player returning and there's a vendor but you can never buy things from them. Seems weird that they're still there if there's no way to get tokens.
