If you have a discover card you can transfer it to your checking account or write a check to yourself. You can’t use this method with business cards only personal cards.

I guess you can do that, but you will have to physically mail the check, then wait until receiving it and then, give it to the loan officer. Wire transfer is easy and fast, besides you can do it from the comfort of your home.

Regarding your second question on property taxes, you should be able to pay property taxes directly on the state's website as most states now accept credit cards for property tax payment.
