I have always been wanting to use photoshop as a drawing tool, but, as with so many other things in life, I have never got around to it. For some reason, I felt that want again tonight, and decided to search 'draw photoshop' on youtube. Your video popped up. I have spent an hour and a half in your company, following your guidelines, and finished a decent illustration - but most importantly, I've learned about the proces of creating through photoshop. You are a great tutor - on point, effecient, and skillful, and unassuming of your viewers without belittling them. Thank you for making this tutorial; now I'm on to the next ones.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I have been struggling to learn how to transition from traditional painting to digital art. Your tutorial has made it so much easier. I never thought to use the lasso tool to create the shapes. I have been trying to paint them in. I also realized by watching your video that the beauty of digital painting is that I can use custom brushes or silhouette clipart to create items like clouds, trees, and animals rather than trying to paint each using a regular brush. This is going to help me so much.

I know I'm only 4 years late to the party but this video won't ever be to old for new comers trying to learn photoshop a bit more. Also HUGE thank you when you shout out the hotkey (binds) that your using before doing something. When I started watching the video you didn't explain how to fill in the selected lasso area and almost walked away from the video. It's important things like that you did your best to include which kept me watching. Thanks for not just trying to make a video and really explaining it. NOT all hero's wear capes. Hello Nemanja ! Can you make a video about Copyright? What pictures can you use etc ... would be nice
@NemanjaSekulic5 жыл бұрын
Will think about it.
@PANTA-Music5 жыл бұрын
If you want to create sillhoutes for artwork or brushes for example, you do not have to worry about copyright, as long as YOU are the one who created the sillhoutte. It doesn't even matter if you used a picture from someone else as a reference or trace. (a face or animal, you name it ) If you blacken a custom shape, that you cut out earlier, it loses all its information from the original piece. To put it simply, it isn't their work anymore. What you should generally avoid is using someone elses sillhoute (branded shapes like logo's etc.) Just make your own and you can be one great artist. This is however a very general, but the only useful tip that someone else can give you. If you need more information about copyright you really should contact your own (and their) authorities. Every nation and part in the world handles copyright differently. There is one more option. If you 'buy' someones work for commercial or personal use you have to understand what the artist is actually selling. Is it for personal use, commercial use? You get a license which will allow you to work with it. That same license is your evidence of usership when you receive legal issues. Personally, if you want to become a better artist, I think people should stop using other work and make something completely new. Even if it sounds or looks familiar, as long as it is made from scratch and own efford. That way, you can 'truelly' say that the work belongs to you. And practice makes art.
@r.e.4345 жыл бұрын
@@PANTA-Music Thank you for you answer very good points provided here ... the question I always ask myself is where inspiration begins and where it ends and become a copy ...
@PANTA-Music5 жыл бұрын
@@r.e.434 I rather think that there is a difference between the words 'Clone' and 'Copy'. Even though the meaning is practically the same. If you clone someones work, that means that you put (less) efford in someone elses idea, which makes your work not entirely yours. Ofcourse cloning can be usefull when you want to learn things, but you should never publish it as your own. Like drawing Mickey Mouse, for example. It will teach you how to understand the technique of cartoon drawing, but you cannot publish it and say that this is entirely your work. And if you want to earn money with it, you'll have to deal with Disney lawyers. ( And they are mean... ) Copying however can be used in lots of ways. Copying a technique, copying a certain inspiration, or copying someones color pallet, because you like it so much. That's all okay. The point is, in the end, the work is entirely done by yourself. No one can claim copyright on techniques, colors or shapes. (Unless it is branded shape/mark) For example, if you try to copy the steps provided in the video, you will probably makes things slightly different, yet you copied the steps. The end result will be different and unique. And that is the moment when you can say that you have done everything yourself. ( And those you should keep in your portfolio, unless you don't like it ofcourse. ) People can tell that you are inspired by this video, but they will give you compliments of archieving the result by yourself with distance help from a teacher. This is a form of inspiration where it is still legit. Copying a nike logo for example is not even close to be inspirational, to begin with. Sometimes KZbin tutorials gives you template files to work with. Those are great to practice with, but never use it when you publish your own work. Even when it's free to use in commercial projects. Maybe no one will find out, but I believe you are fooling yourself a little bit. And do you want to be honest, or dishonest. That is up to you and anyone else. You would guess by now what my preference is. To my view, that is when you are a true artist and not a Chinese copycat (lol). Best tip from me: Start making a template database for yourself. A folder where you can always return when you need assets. Make sure all assets are yours. The template database can also function as a portfolio too. The more years you work on it, the larger your own library will be. And you can re use templates later on and never have to worry about usership and ownership. Because it is all yours. Look at my channel, if you would like. ( might not be the best example ) I am currently experimenting with video and art and try to place a 2d world in a 3d environment. It needed assets. But instead of cloning or downloading other work, I made a folder around the project and made all assets by myself in Illustrator. And when I want to use it in the future, it is still there waiting to be used again. I didnt even gamble with the music and made my own. You may like it or not, but at least everything comes from myself, and noone else. ( And proud of it. ) Have fun being creative, mate!

This looks so fun! Will definetly try it! Thank you Nemanja 😊 Can I ask you, how do set the resolution for this kind of image, say if you want to print it large?
@NemanjaSekulic5 жыл бұрын
You're very welcome. Resolution depends on a print size. Google it, you will find detailed informations for sure. Have a great day.

Thank you Nemanja, great tutorial again. One question though. Is there any way to make edges of the shapes that you draw with the lasso tool smoother and less jagged, apply some kind of anti-aliasing to them? Drawing over the edges with soft brush can help but sometimes it's not an option, so if there's any other trick that you can share I would appreciate it.
@NemanjaSekulic5 жыл бұрын
You're very welcome. Yes, there is a way. In a top left corner in Photoshop, when you are using a lasso tool, there is a feather option. It will feather the edges 😊

Thankyou Nemanja! I owe you. Digital art is my passion, but I never got the idea or faculty to do it, now with the help of your video I made quite a good landscape at PHOTOPEA
