How To Find Nether Fortresses and Bastions in Minecraft Bedrock 1.21…
Today I'll explain in detail a very effective strategy to find structures in the Nether using coordinates, quadrants, and simple math! Very high success rate!
Formula and coordinates:
(x or z coordinate)/480, round to nearest whole number
Whole number*480=(starting x or z coord, "s")
Add the following values to "s" to check the quadrant
104 104
208 104
312 104
104 208
208 208
312 208
104 312
208 312
312 312
Example starting at (-400, 75, 50)
-400/480=~-1
50/480=~0
(~ means about equal to)
480(-1)=-480
480(0)=0
(-480, 32 to 80 elevation, 0) is starting coordinate
Some coordinates to check in this case:
480(-1)+104=-376
480(0)+104=104
So (-376, 104)
(-272, 208)
(-272, 312)
and so on
(Once you find a structure in a quadrant, stop checking that quadrant and congratulate yourself)

Z axis -230 follow the x axis without changing it in either direction and you will come across a fortress or bastion. Thks is what worked for me

This is literally the best tutorial on how to find structures in the Nether that I found, thank you 👍, But does this work 100% of the quadrants or is it just probability? (Literally the previous tutorial that I found before this one, was a guy using the /locate structure fortress XD)

Thank you so much, this means so much to me! I'll be making a lot more tutorial based content in 2024! This works for most quadrants (the only way the structure doesn't generate is if it would be a bastion generating in a basalt delta biome which is an uncommon occurrence)

Im really interested in this method but have a hard time understanding it Lets say may z coordinate is -90 and x is -31 and ill divide it with 480 = 0.1875 and round off then it will become -0.2 x 480 = -96 Then ill go to that z coordinate and compute for x which is -31 ÷ 480 = -0.06 round off to the nearest whole number = -0.1 x 480 = -48 After that i have to be in -96 ## -48 Whats next?

So your x is -31, z is 90. Divide by 480 and round to the nearest whole number (both would be 0 since -31/480 and 90/480 are really small fraction answers). Based on that you start at 0,0. Then add the values listed in the description (in this case it would just be those values listed since you're adding 0 in both x and z). Then enjoy your fortress or bastion whichever you find in the quadrant. If you'd like more structures you'll need to travel 480 blocks in a positive or negative direction so the rounding to the nearest integer results in at least one different value (such as -480, 0 or 0, 480 both start different quadrants). Hope this helps! You should also read the other comments and my replies on this video because my other reply really helped another viewer understand, in case you need more information. I'll also be glad to explain more to you if necessary!

Adding those to both your x and z coordinates gives you 9 total spots to look for the structure in each quadrant instead of just going to the corner of a quadrant and likely not finding anything. (0,0) is the corner of a quadrant, (208,208) is the middle. For best effect you don't want to only see the corners but rather the entire quadrant

It’s perfectly fine if you didn’t fully understand the first time! It took me a while also to do the research, figure out the strategy and then actually prove that it works. At 0:34 in the video you’ll see a chart, and the black lines on that chart separate quadrants. They are each 480 blocks by 480 blocks in size. So I use the formula 480(x)+each of the numbers on screen within each quadrant, where x represents the number of quadrants you are away from the world origin. For example if you plug in 480(0) and 480(1), those values will lead you to the starting point of different quadrants. I hope this helps but if not I’ll gladly explain further!

For each of the 480 block by 480 block regions (quadrants) you will find either a bastion or fortress. So yes you will find one or the other. There is a small chance (about 10%) that the region will be empty because bastions can't generate in basalt biomes. So a 90% chance you will find either a fortress or a bastion in a region

I'll try to help you as much as I can: I used a visual representation at 0:33 that shows different quadrants in the Nether. Do all these steps for both x and z coordinates: So divide your coordinate by 480 (the size of each quadrant) and round to the nearest whole number. This will tell you which quadrant you're in. Multiply the whole number by 480 to determine where the quadrant starts. From there, to fully search the quadrant, add 104, 208 or 312 to that coordinate. This gives 9 locations within each quadrant to check (3 for the x coord times 3 for the z coord). Going to each of these points allows you to view the entire quadrant quickly and see the structure that's in the quadrant. So it's an efficiency-based way to search these quadrants quickly and find the structures within the I hope this helps you! Let me know if you have further questions.

This is confusing I’m at -230, -124 but for the x when I divide it by 480 I got 7999.5 rounded to whole number n it’s 8000 so that means I have to run to 8000 to start ?

For -230/480 I got -0.479, the nearest whole number would be x=0 so go there. Same with z.

You'll have to find a different quadrant, for example the one starting at 480,0 or the one at -480,-480 and repeat the calculations. Most likely you have some of the basalt delta biome in your quadrant because bastions fail to generate in basalt biomes when they attempt to. You should keep trying in other quadrants and you'll find the structures very quickly in those quadrants!

Add or subtract 480 from either your x or z coordinate and go there. For example, the quadrant most people first enter starts at 0,0 so you can add 480 to x and 480,0 starts a quadrant or to z and 0,480 also starts a quadrant. Hopefully this helps, let me know if you're still confused.

ITS WORKS, I FOLLOWED X-104 AND USED 3 CORDS AND FOUND A FORTRESS, for anyone confused he means check these cords: x(104)z(104) x(104)z(300) x(104)z(600) x(104)z(-104) x(104)z(-300) x(104)z(-600) z(104)x(-104) z(104)x(-300) z(104)x(-600) For Y, I recommend just staying at 32. The nether fortress will always start from 32 going up

Thank you so much for watching! I was fascinated to learn about the generation of nether fortresses and bastions! Turns out a similar strategy works for every structure in the game: Villages are 432k+140, End Cities have quadrant regions also, Ancient Cities are 384k+128 and Ruined Portals are 640k+200 (overworld) and 400k+128 (nether). There are so many more and it's so fascinating!

You're almost right, the only thing is that you need to remove the remainder and make it a perfect multiple of 480. This is why I said at one point to round to the nearest whole number. Say you're at x-coordinate 5500: Divide by 480 and round gives 11, multiply it back for 5280. 5280 and 5500 are very different numbers in the context of this strategy. That's why.

For Java the quadrant generation is slightly different than that of bedrock so I'll explain for Java real quick. First of all F3 pie charts exclusive to Java that speedrunners use are much more effective (by finding blaze spawner generation in game) than strategy of where a structure could be. That said, the quadrants in Java are 432 by 432 so you would divide by 432 and round, multiply by 432 and add the following values: 92, 184, and 276 to the x and z as necessary to check the quadrant. Basically do everything the video says but with the modified numbers for Java generation.

No because 2 structures can't generate in the same quadrant, you'll need to check a different quadrant for the Fortress. If you found a bastion because of this video congrats! You'll be able to find the fortress in no time!

@@MinecraftMadeEasy_ I checked 4 Quadrants 1 3 and 4 have Bastions But Quadrant 2 I'm not Entirely Sure if it has a Bastion or a Fortress considering it's hard to Explore Lava Lakes and even with Strider I kinda find it hard to explore

@@humberthagansayan773 If there's a basalt delta biome in quadrant 2, most likely a bastion tried to generate there but failed (leaving the area completely empty). Fortresses are huge structures, if one is in a quadrant it can generally be found at multiple of the coordinate sets I mentioned. It's probably best to check a 5th quadrant. If there's a soul sand valley, Nether waste biome or a huge lava lake in any biome, check those areas first when searching through the coordinate sets. There are infinite numbers of quadrants in the Nether and you have an unusual unlucky seed, but being able to search those quadrants on a difficult seed makes you a pro! Divide by 480. Round to the nearest integer. Then multiply by 480. This is equivalent to rounding the nearest multiple of 480. Minecraft Bedrock generates fortress and bastions in a 480-block grid. Checking every 104 blocks within each cell almost guaranties you find it.

480(0)+104=104. You can also do this for 208 or 312. 104 comes from the fact that the available space in each quadrant to generate structures is 416 blocks, so the best way to search it is by looking at coordinates 104, 208, and 312 in each zone which are 25%, 50%, and 75% of 416

There are 2 sections of the fortress: the outer bridges (where the blaze spawners are) and the interior hallways. Check the interior hallways and most of the time nether wart can be found there

Totally understandable that this strategy may not be for everyone, however, here's another idea if you're okay with traveling long distances in the Nether: just go in a straight line at x coordinate 208 (increasing and decreasing z) or z coordinate 208 (increasing/decreasing x) and look around. This allows you to reach 3 of the 9 spots I mentioned, giving you roughly a 1/3 chance to find a structure in each quadrant, which is nice considering no calculators necessary! @@penin20 You technically could use external programs but it's up to you to determine whether that's fair play or not. My friends and I consider that cheating and the speedrunning community definitely doesn't allow it on random seeds (if it's a set seed you could do /locate and prepare beforehand anyway so seed map is unnecessary)

So for the calculations (I'll try to be complete with this), and Matthew that would be great having an auto-calculator for this to plug in current x and z coords and receive output values. So you'll need to do 2 sets of calculations, one for the x coordinate and one for the z coordinate Let's start with x: According to Minecraft game code, the Nether is divided into 480 block areas. That means the beginning of each area is divisible by 480. For example, 0, 480, 960, -480, -960 and so on all begin regions. You won't be able to see the entire region from one single Minecraft block, so you'll need to check 3 different x coordinates within each area. Since each area has exactly the same generation rules, you can always add 104, 208, or 312 to the original multiple of 480 that you start with to search the area. When you divide your original coordinate by 480 and round it to the nearest whole number, your answer is what you multiply 480 by to obtain the point where the area (quadrant) begins. Then add 104 208 or 312 to give you the x-coordinates to check in that quadrant. Repeat for the z-coordinate: divide by 480 and round, your answer is what you multiply by 480, then add 104 208 or 312 to give you z-coordinates to check. Because each block has an x and z coordinate, you'll need to check all 3 x coords along with all 3 y coords, and you'll end up with 9 different coordinates to check within each area: x1 z1, x1 z2, x1 z3, x2 z1 and so on. Let me know which step of the calculations is most difficult and I'll help you find some Nether Fortresses and Bastions!

Why do you need to get the multiple of 480? Are you saying the number you get should be the same number as the z value and x value? It seems the grid is at 0 x and y. So you’re trying to say to start at a whole number multiple and add those numbers?

My coords were 30 84 30 and I did all the math and I estimated it was 104 208 312 for x and y respectively did I do it right?

Yeah 104, 208, and 312 for both x and z in that zone! That gives you 9 total places to check in that zone for a structure.

So does each quadrant have 1 structure 100% of the time?? Also, what is taking your coordiantes about, do you have to do the formula or can you figure out which quadrant you're in, maybe like positive positive, and then go to the 9 coords mentioned in each?? I'm a little confused and if anyone could offer any help, i'm trying to get into speedrunning

It's not guaranteed in every quadrant but most quadrants have a structure in them. You don't have to use the formula, like pos pos you can just estimate for example 100, 100 and 200, 100 and so on and look around. For speedrunning you should only go to the coordinates in each set that are easy to get to and if you can't find anything quickly you can just reset and try this strategy again on a new attempt.
