My name is Bre. I took two years of small engine repair at the local college. When I left school, I fell into a wonderful job at a local small engine shop where I worked the counter for a couple years. In 2010 my husband and I opened up our own small engine shop in central Arkansas where I am able to work alongside my family and best friends. We saw over 2,000 pieces of small engine equipment every year, and answer 1,000's of small engine questions. We specialize in brands such as Briggs and Stratton, Kohler, Echo and Shindaiwa, but work everyday on MANY other brands like Stihl, Husqvarna, Honda, Craftsman, Remington, Red Max, Troy Bilt, Scag, Bad Boy, Hustler, World Lawn, Poulan, Mantis, Etc.. Hopefully, my experience I share, will save you Time, Money and Frustration in the future!

Look here Chiquita! I listened to your review on the toolkit and went ahead and bought the orange one. Like usual, it was a mistake because when it arrived, I looked at the drivers and thought I better put them out in my toolbox so I would know where they were when I needed them. Well, I opened up the drawer that I thought would be appropriate for them and then I see a brand new black set that I had previously purchased! Go figure huh? Anyways, maybe you should tell us dummies to first go look in our toolboxes before purchasing....

Don't worry about it. If you need a set now you have two sets. It'll increase your likelihood you can find one of them. Especially since one is orange. I have the problem in that people will barrow my tools and refuse to put them back where they belong. Some tools have been in the same spot 30 years. Nope, put it someplace else. If I say something, why am I getting upset?

Once you start collecting and time passes .. well it happens.. Or you know you have it and can't find it.. that happens too. So. I go get another and when i go to put it up where i think it belongs.. guess what? I find the other one I could not find before.. call it "loss consistency".. this year was a first, I actually bought a third and they were all identical socket sets. whelp when I die there'll be plenty to go around i guess... since they won't spoil :) SMDH!

Yap, I got so many screwdrivers, they won't fit in my new toolbox. Now I'll have to keep the old toolbox around for spares. It's like the guy said about the boat... A boat is a big hole in the water that you keep dropping money into. So is a toolbox. My Srm-222 is still flat head screwdriver friendly, Thank God. Chaplain Rodger DeRamus Tuscaloosa, Alabama

In 1990 I bought a factory refurbished Shindaiwa straight shaft trimmer and it would run perfectly but only half choked. Since I had that, 3 Homelight chainsaws, 2 Poulon chainsaws, a Husquvarna chainsaw, a Roof Vacuum/chipper, Ryobi Tractor, Simplicity tractor and Lowe's generator, I had to buy my first set of Carb tools. I think a set of 3. I'm on my 3rd set, this one has 10. In the '80's I had to learn how to break off the limiter caps on everything from small to vehicle engines. I was expert at carb rebuilding. Only until now have I learned from your videos the reasons for having to rebuild carbs. Back then parts were cheap and in most cases, easier than disassembling an entire unit. I've also just learned about hidden adjustment screws and a limiter cap tool! That may be why I just let it run half choked. That begs the question: Why did it come, factory refurbished, with a major issue? This video is gold! Thank you for posting this! P.S., 400K Drawing Winner!

About 20 years ago I wish I had known this. I had a CHEAP weed eater brand trimmer that wouldn't run on full throttle. It caught me on a bad day and i got so mad after fighting that thing for so long i knew i was getting a new trimmer so i took that thing by the shaft and smashed it to pieces against my retaining wall. It made a mess but oh it felt SOOOOOO GOOOD!!!

Drywall screws and KNIPEX TwinGrip Pliers have sometimes worked for me in removing things like bung plugs and limiters... Use a Phillips screw driver to insert the screw into the plug/limiter and then pull straight out with the pliers. Obviously the composition of the material, the thickness, and how tight and clean the friction fit is all have an influence on the success!

You are good people Chickanic ! Just saw your add on helping others with your tool savings offer and what you do on your channel. I'm same way all my life. That's why you see me trying to help you with products etc. That I've used for a long time both marine repair and automotive which I've found out thru the dealerships I used to work for as a young man thru to 25 years ago when I opened my own repair business in marine repair. Just closed it due to 2 back injuries , memory loss and right hand curling in. Great for gripping tools though 😅. Which is probably why it is like it is. Since 1967 professionally in dealerships. You probably remember me from the " engine tuner / carbon guard/ and Sierra products used for removing " coking" on piston skirts and freeing sticking rings in 2 strokes. Great video. Thanks. I watched a tutorial the other day and the guy used a tiny flathead screwdriver like you use to work on eye glasses. He would get the end hot with his portable torch and then press it into the rubber cap. Leave it there for a few seconds while the rubber cools and hardens again, pulls right out. I can't recall if he put it back in the opening after he did his tune up. However, It did seem to be his "go-to" way of removing them. May or may not help someone that doesn't have that specific tool available. Idk.. I just figured it was worth noting. Thanks again for your video. I like your format and the way you cover the information. Much appreciated.

As an old retired auto mechanic, thanks again for the information. When I was working, I did not have time to fuzz with 2 cycle string trimmers. I went through troybilt, ryobi, and some others. After one season they would not start and/or stay running and I threw them away for electric. Because of videos like your I learned many of the things I was doing wrong. You 'kick' can fuel, but it saves people like me that cannot get the mix right. I have the adjustment kit and like using it. Before I had the kit I found the Dremel cut off wheel (about the size of a quarter) would slot the top of the metering jet and allow adjustment with pocket screwdriver. Because I am a mechanic and realize the need for maintenance saves money. I most likely overdue.

If you need to hear what you are doing, but the tools or environment are noisy, then you should be wearing hearing protection; but buy the "Active" version - there's lots of makes out there. You can hear everything, but the high end or high-amplitude frequencies get dulled down. I don't use anything else for shooting or if I need to hear vehicles when I'm cutting hedges at the roadside. Much better than risking your hearing.

I appreciate you sharing your knowledge about small engine repairs. Let my share my knowledge with you. I used worked for a company that manufactured hearing aids and equipment to test hearing. My job was to repair these items. Hearing damage is accumulative. Each time you subject your hearing to loud noise for periods, you can damage your hearing. This damage is accumulative over these periods. The damage keeps adding up. The human hear does not heal itself. Be a smart role model for your viewers and always hearing protection when running equipment. Use earplugs or earmuffs for your health.
