I see some criticism that this tutorial was unrehearsed but it can actually be helpful to see someone do things in real time and overcome obstacles on the fly. This is a more accurate representation of what the project will be like for someone with limited or no experience.

Agree with Al. I have like no experience and watching another person receive coaching and refine performance, helped me to better understand the steps. It also allows more comfort with making errors and coming back on track.

I 1000% agree!!!! I watched the entire thing enraptured by it’s unrehearsed feel. I’m so sick of everything being so cookie cutter perfect that it was so nice to see this woman with her messy hair don’t care attitude and her sweet man helping her along. 10/10 would recommend. I also would like to commend her for being so thorough with the drywall hooks, I honestly was stumped on what to do with them despite having all my tools including my impact drill. I’m still a newbie. Thanks for really going through everything, OP! You’re a rockstar and your videos are super helpful! Criticism is few and far.

Exactly, rehearsed has a problem of sometimes skipping over critical information.

@@traceyhoover My sentiments exactly! I was watching another DIY tutorial the other day, (not on this channel, something/someone elsewhere completely unrelated), and the OP of that other vid. Legit said “I tried it by (herself) off camera in case (she) made a mistake “ and I thought: that’s the WHOLE POINT! I, too, am so tired of 100% perfect everything -> not real; not realistic. Who can keep up with the constant weight of being /striving to be “perfect”? Not me, (anymore), nor do I want to either. I’m grateful I gave up trying to chase that monstrosity of a nightmare, lol Bun up, plowing straight through the drywall in one swift pull of the drill whilst making the “pilot hole” 😅(that’s me too!) rod end falling off… I love it! It’s called being human; now this, I can identify!

I bought a drill over the weekend and trying to get this drill bit set open which has not been easy. While I was at that store, I also purchased 16 pairs of heavy duty command strips to assist. 🙄 AND NOW I SEE YOU HAVE THE EXACT SAME CURTAIN RODS THAT I HAVE WITH THIS BIG BEAUTIFUL CRYSTAL LOOKING BALL ON THE ENDS. 😮 Thank you for sharing. I wish the hack was a little easier. I already have my locations marked in every room on the walls where curtains are going to be hung. I use the knocking test and also use the stud finder to check behind myself. I wish my kids father cared more about wanting to help, especially since I purchased a drill. I love the elegance of a high curtain and I believe a little more muscle would help with drilling. Hopefully it won't be as hard as I'm making it sound once I start. And that's a cool template idea. Again, thanks for sharing.

I’m trying to hang blackout curtains and just noticed that one of my finials was chipped. Great to know I can easily swop it out. Very sad that as I was screwing and unscrewing the finials to adjust the curtains that it never dawned on me that this may be a possibility😜

Do not take rod mount apart if close to ceiling. Loosen and swing to the side or else the screw will not go back in easily. Probably a good idea to not take it apart at all, simply loosen and swing to the side.

I got them up but it was difficult for me especially the drilling part ughhhh! Like you, I went back n forth between my drill and trying to screw it im the wall. I used a hammer to get the anchors in easier on both sides but the 3rd piece/middle support would not go flush in the wall, so annoying

When you use the drill you put a mark of the size of the screw to know how deep the hole is going to be, it will be easier.

Thanks so much for this video! The cardboard tip worked great as I had a 11 foot curtain rod to install The only issue I’m having is that it covers three windows and I’m trying to use two curtain panels to cover three windows. Since I need a middle bracket, the bracket gets in the way of the curtains. Wondering if my only option is to use two curtain panels on each side to avoid going across the middle rod bracket. Wanting to use the blackout curtains so a little space in the middle of the third window will let light in. Any thoughts?
@tablefortwoblog
@tablefortwoblog 2 жыл бұрын
so typically if you have to install a middle bracket it's b/c you have a large window and it's usually recommended that you put two panels on either side of the middle bracket. it makes it look fuller (you're not stretching out 1 panel for an entire window) and if you're using blackouts, it'll actually make it blackout. additionally, just a tip....extending the curtain and curtain rod PAST the window and covering a bit of the wall will help keep the light out too :) i always have 3-4 of the pockets on the outer rod.

Those anchors are self piloting anchors. You just drill them in with a #2 Philips drill bit. You don't even need a pilot hole if you use a stud finder and know what's behind the wall. You can just drill straight into the wall with them. I don't recommend these for curtains though as they receive pulling force. I'd recommend a winged wall anchor that holds the drywall after you drill the screw in and uses compression. Also these brackets should have two screws in them, one top one bottom.

You don't have to drill two "mirror image" holes on the cardboard. Simply flip your template for the other side of the window.
