Finally!!! Someone dumbed it down for me!!! Plus the app!!! Thanks for doing this. I’m new to wood working and spent a ton of time and money on messing up on this very issue. Like you said, nobody shows you in a way that’s easy to understand. Mind blown on how easy this really is!

Very nice idea! I like the notches to positively hold the frame in place. I’m thinking that if you had an extra piece of all thread rod and a coupling nut on hand, you would be able to extend the capacity for larger items when the need arises. John Jensen from British Columbia.

You got it. Solution: just say what to do to 'square' it up. Thank you for saying the few extra sentences it took you to simply explain it. Then leave it alone till the glue dries. If you're up for another simple show&tell, 'how to perfectly square up sheet goods'. I've been mystified several times on 'why' I can't seem to cut 'em square every time. Check this, check that, mark it, make the cut on the table saw and the pieces don't come out square problem. That's a nice and simple jig too. Nicely done, Ronnie.

As far as sheet goods go. I measure each way, corer to corner, figure out what side or end needs to be adjusted and then draw a line. Maybe you need to go from one corner of an edge and wind up 1/8" in at the other corner. Clamp a straight edge on each end and run a circular saw along that straight edge. You'll need to take into account how far the edge of the blade is from the saw base plate and set the straight edge accordingly. I hope that didn't come out too confusing. I did this a lot when I built our kitchen cabinets. I can't really see how you would do that on a table saw trying to navigate a large piece that way. Maybe there's a way, I just haven't run across it yet.

You already had it nailed/screwed improperly. How did you refasten it square? I know it was wobbly but now it has holes in it. You are going to have to renail/ rescrew it in new holes, right?

Not sure what you’re referencing. Something you built in the past?

I think he’s referring to the frame you had in the video? It was all put together out of square, you got it squared in your jig, how do you keep it square when you take it out of the jig?

If you glue and nail, let it dry before removing from the jig. If you have a backing like for a drawer, placing that on while the item is in the jig will ensure the drawer will remain square. Hope that helps

Just imagine using mm? Divides by 10 and can measure more accurately. Over here in the UK we get tapes measures with inch and mm scales on the same tape.

Hanks for this one, always go frustrated by the “ check square “ comment, and they always say “ perfect”. How about. Putting a couple of notches in some bench dogs and use one in your bench vies.

So when you get it square, howbdo you keep it that way. Im building two side tables and they wete 1/2" out of square

If it's a drawer box, for example, I will glue and nail or screw, then let it sit in that position for the glue to dry. For bigger items such as your end tables, can you place a longer clamp on the long side and squeeze it together to the correct distance?
@steelsunpi
@steelsunpi 2 жыл бұрын
Most people would use a clamp to do the same thing.
@RonniesWorkshop
@RonniesWorkshop 2 жыл бұрын
I have tried using clamps but the problem I ran into was if I only need a little adjustment the clamp wasn't on tight enough to stay on. If it did stay on it blocked the top from being able to measure or put a back on. I'm sure there are other ways to figure this out. This is just a simple way to me. Thanks for watching!
