The proper way is making the spikes out of Louro/bay leaf trees.. in some spots around madeira usually near viewpoints on the forest, there are those wood fire places where you can take your prepared meat and barbecue right in nature. In the old times you would just make the sticks out of the louro trees that existed right near those barbecue spots. (but restaurants cant do that because those Bay Leaf trees are now protected so they use iron spikes, just remember that's not the real traditional way, some people have their own Louro trees and they often still recreate it, usually in some of the festivals)
@TheJoeyP20 күн бұрын
exactly, you don't often see it like that anymore... perhaps just at the festivals

I loved this place Joe & visited it back in April 2022 on your recommendation when you featured it in one of your vlogs from almost 3 years ago, so thanks for that! ☺ I also had my first ever sangria there & that too was delish! Great to see you & P finally collaborating & if it wasn't for Lottie (support her new channel: Walk with Lottie) spotting you in Zona Velha on that fateful day back in early May, none of this may have been possible! If you'd put her in the thumbnail or title I'd have watched this vlog sooner, but it was a pleasant surprise nonetheless! Congrats to P (Living in Madeira) in surpassing the 1000 subscriber mark, I'm so proud of her not giving up! Have a great week my friend & see you soon 🤗

If you are Brazilian and Argentinian you definitely know about churrasco. I grew up eating churrasco so picanha is my meat of choice. Now what’s missing there is fried yucca instead of fried polenta e a good potato salad and obviously a caipirinha to wash it all down 😜. Just not a fan of grilling my own food and smelling like charcoal after 🤣
@TheJoeyP2 ай бұрын
Picanha is a great cut, cannot deny that! Haha actually now you mention it, I didn't actually smell of charcoal afterwards.
